Many students in my Facebook ads and Facebook marketing course on Skillshare have asked me what are the best ways to drive traffic to their affiliate links with Facebook ads. I have answered this question so much that I thought I just should write a blog post here with it that includes all of the answers! You can see the basics of each question asked below and then my entire answer with suggestions. Hopefully you will find one of these answers helpful in using Facebook to drive traffic to your affiliate links.
How would I approach a page about selling a Clickbank or Commission Junction item? There is really not a service, I’m offering myself to them. I want them to buy the product I am promoting.
Facebook groups would probably work much better than messaging pages.
Best Strategy for Product Promotion
If I am trying to promote a product through the groups how would I approach it? Should I use the message strategy or post something on the group page? I have not built up any trust though so I dont think they will click on any links I post in a group.
The group would be the best option. Starting with people you know can make it easier because they will already have some trust with you and give you feedback on what you are doing. Then, you can keep building the group bigger with the mindset to have a smaller group with deep relationships and then over time share a link here and there when appropriate. Eventually people will ask to join the group and for the link before you give it to them if you are working a little every day on giving people what they need.
Affiliate Marketing Ads
I’m promoting affiliate products on the make money online niche. What is the best strategy to follow on Facebook? What is the best audience to direct my ads?
Based on what I have seen, getting affiliate programs to make money with Facebook ads is very challenging to setup and very rewarding if done well. I have seen many try, but I rarely see any that are succeeding. If you want to do affiliate ads to make money as the main objective, there probably are easier ways to go to make money.
If you have products you are passionate about that you want to sell as an affiliate, it seems the ideal strategy is to use page post ads to your own website for with conversion tracking to screen out the junk clicks. Once people are on your website, then they should be only a click away from your affiliate offer and/or email list. A blog post explaining how you have used a product and then a link to it at the end I would think would have the potential to work well.
As to what audience to target, knowing the audience that is likely to buy will give you the best opportunity. Usually if you have already been a customer in that audience, you can know it best. I watch Skillshare courses myself which helps me to know what kinds of buyers there are on Skillshare and how to speak to the buyer.
Facebook Ads for Affiliate Marketing Site
I want to promote my website for affiliate offers and I don’t have a facebook page so I can’t definitely do with post engagement or page likes. I want people directly to enter my website from the ads I put on Facebook and complete a small survey. How can I do this?
Mobile ads on another platform might be the best for what you are trying to do if the survey can be completed on a mobile device. Affiliate marketing with direct links is challenging on Facebook because the costs are high and Facebook likes to disable ad accounts advertising affiliate offers. For website leads, the standard seems to be a landing page for a webinar or some other type of free event. The leads are then collected via email and I would guess that’s where the affiliate marketing starts. All the successful ads I see now are for webinars and blog post landing pages that collect an email.
