“Memories of Heaven” by Wayne Dyer, Dee Garnes and Dianna Hicks-Garnes, was an incredibly powerful book for me because it helped me remember my own choice to come here in this life.

This book helped me remember to not be a victim of my parents fooling around and “Boom, I’m here,” but to remember that I chose very specifically to come here, I knew what I was getting into and I’m still in the middle of that choice right now.
This is such an empowering book.
It’s called “Memories of Heaven -- Children’s astounding recollections of the time before they came to earth.”
There are stories after stories of children recalling things like talking to God while they pick out their parents, being together with parents in past lives. There are so many incredible stories in this book.
There are stories of mothers and daughters reincarnating together. There are lots of stories of children that are like three years old saying things that just blow their parents away, having visitations from relatives that had passed on that share information with their parents.
This book gave me a conscious working memory of my own choice, my own coming to earth from the sun flying here as this spiritual Phoenix, talking with God and angels and planning out my journey, looking down on my parents and saying, “Yes, you two are just perfect.”
My mom wasn’t divorced yet from her first husband, my dad was an alcoholic, drug addict, sex addict with lots of gambling problems and other issues, and I looked at the two of them, and they were celebrating after a race one night and I said, “Yes, these are my parents. This will be a perfect life for me.”
I got also the working mindset with, I don’t know if it was this book or it got me going in the right direction, that we basically make a reservation. When there is a pregnancy, that’s kind of a reservation. Our soul has that body on reserve.
The soul is not kind of hard locked into the body as much while the soul is still just in the baby in the mother. The soul is free to kind of flow about very easily and upon birth the soul bonds more firmly, you could say, with the body.
The stories in this book are so inspirational. It opens up my mind to a whole different way of looking at it.
Now this helps me see as a parent what an honor that my daughter and my son chose my wife and I, that they talked with God and looked down and said, “Yes. Jerry and Laura, you two will be our parents. We’d love for you to be our parents,” and then to see how they even picked things out and their siblings.
In the context of reading this book, I was talking to my aunt and she was saying when she was five years old, somebody asked her, “Where do you come from?” or “How did you get here with this family?” and she said, “I was looking down from the stars and I saw this family and I wanted to join them.”
Her older brother told her in a joking way that they didn’t need her, that she could go back, and that from my own aunt, it helps today to see how much choice I have in my life today, that I’m not here as a victim of life, that this isn’t a messed up universe that I just got brought into against my will, that I chose specifically to be here, that I am immortal, that I am a higher power.
A lot of us imagine things like how cool it would be to talk with the president or how cool it would be to meet an actor or celebrity, but how cool is it to get to talk to God?
Think about that for a minute.
You got to talk to God to come down here and be in this body.
Now, these are things you can believe in if you want to and you can sit there and disagree.
“Well, Jerry, I don’t remember talking to God.”
Have you seen a butterfly effect?
I found my life to be a lot like that. There is a lot of things I haven’t remembered and all of a sudden they have come up.
The first thing that happened to me that I remember is I used to look around, before even reading this book, I would see a baby and I would see a couple of parents who to me didn’t look like very good choices for the baby and I would say, “Wow, that’s a courageous baby to have chosen those parents.”
Then one day, it dawned on me. I’m a courageous soul. It takes one to know one, to have chosen my parents. My parents looked like a risky bet. My mother’s divorce papers had not gone through. My dad had all kinds of problems. That looked like a pretty risky option to pick my two parents and I’m so grateful for that today.
This book was also really helpful for me when I met my older sister Thuy in Vietnam. She had not got to meet my dad, as far as I know, while he was alive.
To reconnect with her and to bring these memories of heaven in and to imagine that we souls, all of my brothers and sisters work together in heaven prior to coming down to earth, and she was the courageous one that saw Dad and her mother in Vietnam, even though Dad had a wife in the States at the time, and she looked up and said, “I’m going to go down here. I think this is a good spot.”
I picture the rest of us, siblings, saying, “Well, good luck with that. You go down and check it out and we’re going to wait. We’re going to wait and see how that works out for you.”
Then, the two older sisters going down saying, “Okay. Well, Dad’s back in the states. We are going to go down to our mother.”
I then say, “No. I’m going to wait to see how this works out.”
After a while, I come down thinking, “Okay. All right. Dad’s with Catherine now. Let’s go. Let’s go. This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for.”
I picture my little brother saying, “I don’t know about that. I don’t know about the two of them. But you go down and investigate and if you’re happy with that, then I’ll come down in a little while.”
How cool is that?
I used to wonder about the afterlife so much, and then I started wondering about what happened before life. Isn’t the before life equally as interesting as the afterlife?
This book “Memories of Heaven“ also goes really well with “Proof of Heaven.”
“Proof of Heaven“ plus “Memories of Heaven,” it’s extremely powerful.
They are not by the same author.
“Proof of Heaven” is a neurosurgeons’ experience. He completely did not believe in anything spiritual. Maybe I put that a little too strongly. He believed that consciousness was strictly a function of the brain until he got a near-death infection.
His brain was dead according to all the science that he believed in, and he came back into his body with an incredible amount of experiences, including going to heaven, including talking to God, including seeing an angel that was his sister who died before he was born that he never got to meet before and he got to see in heaven.
“Proof of Heaven“ plus “Memories of Heaven” is a really powerful collection. I love this book, “Memories of Heaven.” There are so many good stories in it. Stories of children saying things in the backseat. I think it’s in this book, there is a story of a little girl asking her younger brother, she is saying, “Do you remember God?”
I guess the boy said, “Yes,” and she said, “Tell me about God. I’m starting to forget.”
That’s so true for a lot of us in our lives.
My son unquestionably knows God at seven months old. You can see he has got the joy, the gift, he feels good, he feels God every day, and yet how quickly do many of us forget?
How soon do we forget?
It’s books like this that help us remember.
So, with that, I think I’ve talked about it enough to pique your curiosity.
If you want some really good stories, especially from parents about their children, saying things that their children based on a purely rational view of a start of your life starts at birth and ends at death, based purely on that the children should have no reason to be able to say the things they say.
I love this book.
Thank you, Wayne Dyer, Dee Garnes and Dianna Hicks-Garnes for getting this book put together: “Memories of Heaven.”
