What being listened to did for me

This is 20 minutes on Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or the phone, at a time you pick or as soon as I can reach you, where my main job is to listen to you and support you. I am not there to lecture you or sell you a plan. I offer it this way because having someone really listen to me has been one of the most helpful things in my whole life, through drinking, sobriety, divorce, debt, dating, and building a business.

I don't just offer this. I pay for it myself, again and again, because it keeps changing my life. Here are the moments I think about most.

The hour in the park

In 2020 I paid a life coach for an hour. Part of me thought it was silly. It turned out to be one of the best hours I had that year.

We ran around a park yelling, I'm free, I'm free, at the top of our lungs, and as ridiculous as that sounds, it felt liberating. It cracked something open in me. It shifted my perspective. It was worth every dollar.

The day my mind told me to cancel

In 2025 I bought four hours with a life coach. On the drive to one of those sessions, my own head tried to talk me out of going.

On the way over, I heard an endless loop of complaints: Life coaching is pointless. She's not adding any value. You don't need this. You shouldn't have paid for this... By the end of our session, I felt loved, accepted, and lighter.

If you are hearing that same voice right now about scheduling a call, I understand. I went anyway. The difference between how I walked in and how I walked out was night and day.

He didn't flinch

Right after I moved out during my divorce, I sat in my car at the yoga studio feeling like my life was over. I made myself go back inside, and I found my yoga instructor.

I poured my heart out to him. I told him how miserable I was... and I started crying while I was talking. He didn't flinch. He comforted me.

Talking with him changed everything about my day. I felt dramatically better afterward. It was a real turning point. That is what I want to be for you: someone who doesn't flinch.

An hour and twenty-seven minutes

In the first days of my separation, a man in recovery with more than forty years sober, who used to work as a psychologist, stayed on the phone with me.

He used to be a psychologist, and we talked for an hour and twenty-seven minutes. That conversation humbled me deeply.

He was honest with me about the parts of myself I didn't want to look at. It hurt, and I needed it.

I woke up feeling reborn

The day after we decided to separate, I did not sit home alone trying to figure it all out.

I spent hours on the phone with people from Alcoholics Anonymous, including my sponsor and another man who has played a mentor-like role in my life. They talked with me at length, helping me make sense of everything that had just happened. Instead of waking up overwhelmed with sadness, I woke up feeling reborn, much like I did in early sobriety.

The sponsor who called me

When I got sober, I was not good at asking for help. My first sponsor saw that.

he told me he would call me every day. That mattered more than I realized at the time. Most sponsors expect you to call them. My first sponsor flipped it around.

He would leave short voicemails telling me he was thinking of me. It wasn't dramatic or heavy. It was consistent. Those men and women in AA shook my hand and loved me until I could love myself.

Seen and heard

Here is what actually helps me, in my own words. It is exactly what I try to give on a call:

And what really helps me is having people I can talk to about it. People that I know understand. People who often mostly just listen, but then when they do talk, it's something that leaves me feeling really seen and heard and will often help my perspective.

I still pay coaches today, including for YouTube and for my business. And over the years, people have come to me the same way. Over the years, a lot of people going through divorce have poured their hearts out to me. I'm willing to talk about absolutely anything.

What you can bring to a call

Anything I have lived through is fair game. Introduce yourself to me. Share your story with me. Tell me your heartbreaks. Here is what people bring most often.

YouTube and content creation

I have been on YouTube for 14 years. We can look at your channel together, talk through what you are doing, and find the next step that fits you. If you got a strike or lost a channel, I have been there too.

I've got the ability to just listen to you. You can screen share and show me your channel. Show me what you're doing right now and then start asking questions.

My videos for content creators

AI for your business

I build my websites, blog, and books with AI by talking out loud. We can look at your AI setup together and figure out a workflow that works with your voice.

All you need to be able to do to create something like this is talk.

My ICP Crypto videos

Crypto, ICP, and self-custody

I have been making crypto videos since 2014. We can look at your portfolio together, and I will tell you honestly what I would do in your shoes, from my experience. Many people just want someone who understands to hear what happened.

Show me the portfolio you have on Coinbase. And I'll just look at it. Listen to you talk about it. And ask you questions.

My Crypto Reviews videos

Online courses and making money online

I was a top-ten Udemy instructor. I also know what it is like to start from nothing.

I did not make any money the first year, but by 2013, I had my first month making $10,000 online.

Books and writing

I have written more than a dozen books, mostly by talking. If you want to write one, we can talk through a workflow that fits your life.

I dictate into voice memos, then I run those memos through ChatGPT to polish them into readable writing.

Dating after divorce

I have made plenty of dating mistakes and turned them into videos. I help men and women, young and old.

I'm sober 12 years, so not newly sober, but I am learning for the first time how to date without alcohol.

My dating videos

Divorce, co-parenting, and single-dad life

I went through a kind divorce and I am a co-parenting single dad. If you are in the middle of it, you don't have to carry it alone.

What's helped me is I've talked with so many other dads who've been through similar things.

My daily vlogs

Recovery and sobriety

I have been sober since 2014. A call is not a replacement for a program or treatment, but I can listen as someone who has been there.

If you have struggled with being overweight, addicted to screens, abusing substances, drinking too much, feeling out of control, or wondering what the point of life even is, I have been there.

Faith

I got sober by praying to a God I did not believe in. I am happy to talk about faith from wherever you are starting.

I don't actually think it matters who you pray to, as long as you genuinely believe it will work.

Fitness and habits

I can only share my own experience here, not medical advice. I lost the weight and have kept working on my habits, including screens and games.

I used to be 80 pounds overweight myself, I weigh 170 now.

My gaming videos

Money stress and debt

In 2019 I was sitting in a bankruptcy attorney's office, deep in debt. I created my way out. Looking back, The debt had grown so large precisely because I hadn't asked for help sooner.

So if you're in debt, you're all stressed out and scared. Talk to me because I'm not.

Loneliness and feeling stuck

A lot of my 20s were very lonely. I know what it is to have no one to really talk to.

I'm offering to be there for lonely people as someone who knows the struggle.

Just introduce yourself, share your story, or interview me

You don't need a problem to get a call. You can tell me your life story, play me your music, or record an interview.

If you want to help me get to know you, schedule a call.

What people have gotten out of a call

I have talked with hundreds of people in more than 20 countries. Every result below is one person's story, not a promise of what will happen for you. I keep what's shared with me private, so everyone here is a role, not a name, except one friend who has said so publicly.

  • Crypto he couldn't get to, recovered One man had three calls with me. Together we worked out how to reach crypto that had been stuck for him.
I've helped him get ninety thousand dollars of crypto that he you know either didn't have access to or didn't know how to access it.
  • A missing balance, found
This guy had like $70 000 that he couldn't find in Pax Gold sitting in some wallet. I helped him figure out where it was. He had something simple he hadn't done. Like, load the token.
  • Joe Parys, more than ten years I have coached my friend Joe Parys for over a decade.
He paid me to coach him when he was building up his brand new YouTube crypto channel, which now has hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
  • A student who now out-earns me Another course creator came to me when he could barely pay rent.
I coached him, I showed him how to do what I did, and now his Udemy earnings have surpassed mine
  • A wallet working on every device We looked at his setup together and got it working everywhere he needed it, and he ends up with $2,000 more in his main wallet than he had to start the call.
  • Six figures moved into self-custody One man had a large amount of crypto sitting on an exchange.
So I talked him through like setting stuff up like an internet identity and securing his recovery phrase.
  • Money saved by talking first
I'm often able to save them hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars in one single call
  • People come back
I have people that scheduled a call with me years ago and they'll come back and schedule several more calls.
  • I will tell you the truth, even when you are paying me A man who used to watch my ICP videos booked an hour to pitch me an app he wanted to build. I didn't think the world needed it, and I didn't pretend otherwise. I told him straight up it wasn't necessary. I would rather save you months than tell you what you want to hear.

How the 20 minutes work

  1. Pick a time, or choose first available. Open times are shown in your own time zone. A 20-minute call fits at the start of any open hour. If none of the times work, choose first available and I reach out as soon as I can.
  2. Pay by card or ICP, and tell me how to reach you. No account and no sign-in. At checkout, write your phone number or email and pick Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or a regular phone call (phone calls are USA only).
  3. I call you on the app you chose. At the time you picked, with your confirmation by email right after you pay. If you chose first available, I get a notification the moment you pay and I call or message you as soon as I can, with the earliest time I can talk if I can't call right away.
  4. We talk for 20 minutes, and mostly I listen. My job is to listen to you and support you. When it helps, I share what worked for me. On Zoom we can screen share if you want us to look at something together.
A good coach, the majority of it should be listening.

It's not therapy, and I won't try to fix you. I don't try and fix you or tell you what to do. I listen, I ask questions, and when it helps, I share what worked for me. Sometimes being heard is enough: It could just be witnessed sometimes. It can move miracles.

I keep what's shared with me private. What you tell me stays between us.

What to bring: one thing that is on your mind. Twenty minutes is perfect for a question, a quick look at something, or just introducing yourself. You don't need to prepare.

Want more time? My one-hour call is scheduled on Zoom at a time you pick.

Questions people ask

Is this therapy?

No. It's not therapy, and I am not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor. I listen, and I share my own experience. If you are working with a professional, keep doing that. A call can sit alongside it, never in place of it.

Will you keep what I say private?

Yes. I keep what's shared with me private. The one exception is if someone is in imminent danger. If you are in crisis right now, please don't wait for a call: in the US, call or text 988, and anywhere else, contact your local emergency number or crisis line.

When will you call me?

At the time you picked, on the app you chose. If you chose first available, I reach out as soon as I can: I get a notification the moment you pay, and if I am busy I message you with the earliest time I can talk, and we find a time that works for you. If something goes wrong on my side, I will make it right. The exact policy is shown on the checkout page before you pay.

None of the times work for me. What now?

Choose first available at checkout. I reach out as soon as I can, which is often sooner than the first open time, and we can find something that fits your time zone. Need to move a time you picked? Reply to your confirmation email at least 24 hours before it and we will find a new one.

Can I record the call or interview you?

Yes. Ask at the start of the call. I am happy to be interviewed for your channel or podcast.

Can I pay with crypto?

Yes. You can pay by card or with ICP. The checkout shows the exact ICP amount and a QR code.

Which apps can we use?

Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or a regular phone call. Phone calls are USA only; anywhere else, pick Zoom, FaceTime, or WhatsApp. Tell me which one at checkout along with your number or email.

What won't you do?

I don't give medical, legal, or financial advice, and I don't promise results. I share what I have lived through and what worked for me. You decide what to do with it.

What if I just want to say thank you?

Then get a 20-minute call and say it. I would love to hear how my videos have fit into your life, and to finally hear your voice.

Your turn to talk

If you have watched my videos or read my books, you already know a lot about me. I would like to know you.

“You've listened to me talk so much. I need to hear you talk. It's only fair.”
