Dear Suppoman, I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the years as a fellow content creator. On crypto especially, you've been a huge force in getting me to come back into crypto after I'd taken years off of being in it, feeling like I didn't even belong there anymore. I couldn't even do it anymore. And I'm really grateful that most of the income I've earned in the last couple of years is because I got back into crypto. You were one of the big reasons I joined back, watching your streams and you telling me to please get back into crypto and get back to making videos.
I have been consistently inspired by your journey on YouTube since we first came into contact. I think we met through Udemy, through my Patreon at some point, like eight years ago. And I've seen you make two channels now on YouTube, plus your Suppoman Classic channel as well. I saw you get through being banned on your YouTube channel, making a new channel, and growing it out there. And I see you do an absolutely fantastic job of knowing who your audience is and creating content for them. It's clear in your videos that you know who you're talking to, and you deliver videos for exactly what they want to see. That's something I've struggled a lot with: knowing who my audience is.
I also appreciate all the times you've watched my live streams on Twitch and asked questions and helped me remember the value I'm delivering. What's really hard for me as a content creator is having some perspective on my own work. I'm in the middle of the work doing it, and it's often hard to see the effect it's having on other people, to see if it's doing any good at all.
Getting back into gaming
You helped me get back into gaming this year as well. I just did a video playing Kung Fu recently. I did a live stream. I've got lots more gaming videos coming out. I played Warzone. And I've got back into gaming because you told me how much you enjoyed watching my old gaming streams from years ago. Streams that, in my mind, were worthless. I thought I'd just wasted my time. You've helped me see that I'm a creator who makes things. I make so many different things, whether it's crypto videos or gaming videos. I make things that are worth watching. I make things that are special, that are different, and that I should keep making them.
I don't want to just niche down either. One of my hardest things as a creator has been that I don't want to just niche down and only be a crypto guy. I was very resistant to getting back into gaming, because my mind was telling me that gaming is a waste of time. It doesn't make me any money. I already got canceled. I already had my chance. It's over. But you, more than anybody else, consistently talked about my gaming content. You consistently watched old videos that I'd since deleted on Rumble. My mind just kept trying to ignore that or argue with it. And finally I just accepted it: you want to do gaming, you should do some gaming. Don't make gaming everything that I do, but my gaming videos are special, at least to you. And if they're special to you and I want to do them, that's clear proof that other people are likely to feel the same way. Maybe they're just not as vocal. Maybe it's not their job to tell me these things, but other people probably feel the same way too.
I've consistently wondered what I should do with myself. Seeing your support has helped me see that all I need to do is keep showing up, talk about whatever I want to talk about each day, and make videos that I'm proud of.
Talking raw instead of chasing the algorithm
You've helped me see the workflow you do with your videos of trying to make a video that just hits the algorithm. That's hard, and you talk about how much preparation you need to put into those videos. You've helped me see that I don't want to do that. I want to just talk raw and authentic from the heart. I don't want to prepare two hours to make a video. I don't want to try to make the perfect thumbnail, because doing that is hard and it hurts my feelings too much when it doesn't work out.
I really am happy to see how much you've gotten into Internet Computer Protocol as well. Seeing that leaves me feeling not quite so crazy, because lots of times I feel like I'm just preaching to the converted masses with Internet Computer Protocol. You're playing a very different game than I am in crypto. You're going for these often smaller coins, often very temporary multipliers. And if you can see the value in Internet Computer Protocol and have some in your portfolio, given all that you've seen in crypto, then I don't feel quite so much like I'm crazy on this, like I'm just in some cult of ICP people. It makes sense to you too, and that's been really supportive. You're one of the very few who have actually mentioned ICP and given it positive feedback.
I do wonder when's the last time you refreshed your channel cover. Come to think of it, I haven't done mine in a while. Maybe we should both update and get some new covers on here.
Watching the Suppoman Plus channel
I've also enjoyed your live streams on this new channel. I love this new Suppoman Plus channel that you've started. I've been watching more of these, if you've noticed. I haven't watched some of your other videos, because I'm not looking for tiny coins. That's not the game I'm playing. When I watch those videos, it makes me want to play that game and do the same thing you're doing. So I often haven't watched a lot of those in the past, unless you tell me there's a segment I should look at, because if I watch your videos like that, I'll start wanting to do the same thing. That's what happened before.
But what I've really enjoyed is this Suppoman Plus channel. If you notice, I've 100 percented it. I missed one a few days ago somehow, but I've literally watched four out of five of these start to finish. That's pretty amazing. You've made this second channel that I've watched all the way through, all five of these videos start to finish, because they're really funny to me. I really enjoy the gaming content. This Terminator 2 one was great yesterday. These are funny. I do laugh occasionally during the other videos, but with these it's different.
It's really cool to see how my work has impacted you also, because I've encouraged you for quite a while to get back to streaming on Twitch. You have so many followers on Twitch. Even if there are only 10 live viewers on Twitch, those are people who care about your videos, who are there to watch you. It's worth serving smaller numbers of people who really care. Twitch is a platform where you often have smaller numbers, but the people really care there. You're one of the few people who consistently shows up on Twitch to watch my videos. Twitch, to me, is the best platform to maintain a relationship over the long term, because the YouTube algorithm can leave you behind really fast, but the Twitch algorithm sticks around longer.
I'm so happy to see this channel, because you made it after talking with me about the gaming. I can see where I helped you have the idea and get inspired to play these games that you obviously love and enjoy and wanted to play. So it's really cool to see how my gaming videos and my live streams became your own. You made this your own, and I love it. And I'm amazed how many views you've gotten on this brand new channel already. I imagine you should be pretty close, if not already monetized on this channel, which is awesome.
Community off-platform, and an invitation
You also showed me the importance of having a community that's not on a platform. You've got a huge Telegram community, and I now have my own open chat community. I saw your Telegram and how big of a deal that is and how much chat you have there. After screwing around and not having one for a while, that helped me too. Most of what I've learned about crypto, content, and building income over these last couple of years is collected in my Money playlist if you ever want to see where this journey has taken me.
I would love to have a call. We haven't had one in a long time. I've just set it up. I'd love to have a call and chat and record a video with you and talk. I've made 15 minute appointments. You could just pop in and record a quick video, or we could just have a private chat. I sent you a coupon code so you can schedule for free. It's been years and years since we've actually talked, even though I watch your streams and you watch mine. Suppoman has done a lot for me as a creator, and it's time I take a video to thank you explicitly for it, to share my experience, and to share this with my audience as well.
I read your comment too. You said you appreciated the video, that you wouldn't be on this path without coming across me on Udemy, that I was instantly one of your heroes, and that when I got into crypto, it brought you to it for the first time. You said the video was brilliant and inspired you, and that you'll definitely call, no doubt. I'm really happy to see that.
Smaller, more intimate live streams
The last key lesson I've gotten to is this: if you're watching my live stream, I don't need to be thinking that I have to have a huge quantity of viewers. You remember when the quantity of viewers on my streams was huge and I could hardly hear what anyone had to say. You've helped me see that having smaller, more intimate live streams, where the people I really care about aren't being bombarded by a hundred other people's chats, is actually better. My live streams are actually better for you if there are fewer people watching, so that when you chat, I see every message you write. Sure, on my regular videos I can get any number of views, and that's fine. But on the live streams, it's actually better to go for a smaller, more intimate experience.
That way I can really listen to you, and listen to the other viewers who are here every day. Then I don't feel so lost and alone as a creator. So thank you very much. If you're watching this and you're interested in Suppoman, he's at Suppoman Crypto and at Suppoman Plus on YouTube, and Suppoman Crypto on Twitch as well.
