For three years, I've been an Internet Computer Protocol — ICP — maxi, where if it's not ICP, everything else in crypto sucks and it's no good. Starting today, I'm no longer an ICP maxi, because I like money and I want to make money, and being an ICP maxi has consistently not paid. There have been times when it has paid, and I'm grateful for those times. But most of the time, I could have made so much more money by not being limited to the ICP ecosystem and ICP as my only coin.
So starting today, I've taken some massive action that I don't think is a good idea for most people. This is more advanced stuff that took me hours to actually go through and set all of it up. If you're interested in getting into what I'm about to show, you can join MaxFi and set up an account where I am doing exactly what I'm doing.
What's Happening for Me on MaxFi Right Now
Right now, I've tested putting a few thousand dollars in. I've got $900 or so on Base that's getting like a 51% yield on MaxFi. And then on Robinhood's chain, it's going nuts already: I've got about $1,300 that I put on, I'm down $1.40 so far in value, but I've already got 41 cents earned in the portfolio — my projected portfolio yield so far is like 700%. A lot of my positions are out of range because I just put USDG in, and I've definitely swapped like $20 out in Ethereum fees in all this stuff. But for a lot of my positions I just stuck with a stablecoin and didn't even buy the other coin, so they're having to actually slip into position to even start earning. I'm going to do lots more videos about MaxFi, because this is amazing. What is so cool about MaxFi is this is an opportunity to just put your money to work.
I Kept All My ICP — and Leveraged It
Now, I have kept all of my ICP. What I've done is leverage my ICP. Instead of putting my ICP somewhere to just sit there, or get 2% interest in the NNS, I've put up 3,400 ICP — which is a third of what I've got, worth $8,400 right now — and took a loan in USDC on Ethereum. That was a mistake: I should have taken ckUSDC and swapped it, because otherwise I needed to put Ethereum in my wallet, which was super annoying. If I had it to do over again, I'd have just taken the ckUSDC and swapped it. But anyway — I took the USDC, and I had to send a few dollars of Ethereum over to my wallet and swap that, and then send it to Coinbase, and then put that on Base, and then send it over to MetaMask, and then swap some of that over to Robinhood's chain. Ethereum onto Base and Robinhood both. That was a real joy, I've got to say.
I took a $2,900 loan, even though I could borrow more — I could borrow up to about $1,300 more, but that would put me at risk of liquidating, and as volatile as the ICP price is, that's not a good idea. The loan liquidates at like 70%, so right now I think ICP can go down to about $1.40 or $1.60 without me getting liquidated. That's been very safe. And I dissolved the ICP I have — not the main neuron, but the short-term two-week one. I had my ICP in three buckets: one was liquid, and the liquid was sitting there with no price action, doing nothing. When I was an ICP maxi, I thought that was reasonable. Now I'm breaking out of being an ICP maxi. The community needs to grow and evolve, we need to fund some serious marketing here, and there's a lot of work to do in the community before I would return to being an ICP maxi again — I've laid that whole argument out across my ICP Crypto playlist. So I took out my liquid ICP, and I'm going to pull the two-week neuron out too, put it all into OISY, and take another loan for around 50% of the value or less — several more thousand, like three or so more thousand. And then I'm going to put it all on MaxFi, because this is just printing money.
A Tour of My Pools: Stocks, Gold, Wrapped ETH, and Meme Coins
Let me show you what's in here. This one is a Robinhood stablecoin paired with Netflix, I believe — that's a stock. This one is Amazon; it's not quite in position right now, I just threw that on there. There's Tesla. When people swap these, I get fees. This one is Palantir, I believe — 15%, that's not that great, but again, it's a stock, so it's pretty stable. I'm going to find the value: the very best pools with the very best earning rates, and just put all my money into those. And then this one — this is a meme coin right here, and this is nuts. At this rate I'm going to make like $8 in a day on this meme coin. Some of these meme coins are just crazy. This one's wrapped ETH, making like 100% APR. This one is just USD and gold. These are just printing money. Some of them are inefficient — there are Ethereum fees just to start on these positions, so you do want to be careful. This is some more advanced stuff.
But look: my portfolio so far shows a 760% projected yield. At this rate, on $1,300, it's projected that if the whole portfolio earned like this, I'll earn $27 a day. I'm going to have work to do to rebalance these things and move positions around — I'll double down on the ones that are doing better and pull out of the ones that are not doing good. This is just a test. My Base positions aren't going nearly as well right now — still, 75% is pretty good — and if some of these coins go up, I have a chance to earn more. On Base I didn't want to swap; I just put the stablecoin in to see when I go out of range. So I'm playing around. I'm having fun.
The Referral Fee Is Too Good to Pass Up
Plus, there's the referral fee on this — I just set it up today. If you join MaxFi through my referral link, you get the same earnings you'd get anyway, and the platform itself will give me 3% of all the trading fees your positions generate, forever. I could refer one single person to this and generate thousands of dollars in referral fees — and that would mean you'd be earning tens of thousands of dollars yourself. This is too good of an opportunity to pass up just to sit around on my ICP and wait for the price to go up every day.
Why a Loan Makes This a Win-Win-Win
Now, the beautiful thing is: if I've been right about ICP this whole time and the price does go up, I can actually borrow more money against my ICP to put further money into DeFi. If the ICP price goes down, I can just repay this loan to avoid being liquidated — and I don't even have to repay all of it, I can pay some of it to avoid liquidation. To me, this puts my ICP to work. This is on OISY Wallet with Liquidium — I should look for a sponsorship from them — and it's super easy to get started with the borrowing. I'm putting my money to work on MaxFi now, which feels great. If I get all this set up, and in two weeks I take another loan for like $3,000, I'll be in a good position to be making $100-plus a day off my MaxFi positions. Blockchain Pill has about as much in there as I'll have, and he said he's making close to $100 a day — over $100 a day — with his positions. So I'm going to line up my capital, and then I can use the money I make off MaxFi to pay off my ICP loans, or just put it in the bank. If ICP goes up, I can take bigger loans and put more into MaxFi or into the bank.
I'm grateful that I finally came out of my shell. A lot of people have not liked that I've just been in ICP, ICP maxi. Do I believe in some of these coins having a future — especially meme coins, like this meme coin Clippy? At this point, probably not. At the same time, though, do I believe in making money? Yes. And if people are swapping these coins anyway, and I can make money on the swaps, do I believe in that? Absolutely. What's cool is some of these positions will earn back the Ethereum fees in a single day, and if I want to reposition into something else, I can just pull out of the position. I set these pools up with USDG so I could ideally swap into some of the others without even having to buy them first. Like gold right here: if the price dropped down, I could swap half this position to gold, pull it out, and put it into another position. Same thing with wrapped ETH — instead of buying a bunch of wrapped ETH, if the price of ETH tanks a little, I'll essentially buy some on the way down, withdraw, and put it into other positions. Same with these meme coins: I put my position in at the top, and if the meme coin price tanks a bit, I load up on the meme coin. Meanwhile, at this rate, I'm earning like $10 a day on this one meme coin, which is insane.
Now, obviously this is volatile. I could lose my money, and I'm willing to take that risk — especially on a loan. Because if the ICP price absolutely dumps and I could potentially lose my position, it's like: all right, I already got the money out and put it to work. If the ICP price pumps, I just grab some more money and pay it off. So this to me is a win-win-win: I win off the referrals, I win off the videos showing you how you can do this yourself, and I win off the positions. Again, this requires a lot of knowledge in crypto. On MetaMask, I accidentally sent Ethereum to the wrong place — I meant to send it to one address, and thankfully it went into the wallet correctly, because all the addresses are the same. I did screw up sending one transaction — it was only $10, and I was able to just swap it out of there. It still got there; it just went in the wrong hole.
So this is fun, and I'm going to keep up with this. My Base positions aren't that great so far because I don't have any of the meme coins on Base, but I might just straight-up swap for some of them so I can begin providing liquidity there. If you want to talk about my MaxFi positions, join MaxFi, and then join the chat on my website too — that's where I talk through what I'm doing.
I hope to see you on MaxFi, if you want to give this a try.
