What I Think Happens After You Die
What do you think happens after you die? Here's what I think. All of us go back to source, what you might think of as heaven. Even what you might think of as the very worst of us. So I'm saying even Hitler gets to go to heaven. That Hitler and Mother Teresa are going to the same destination. That Jesus Christ and Adolf Hitler are going to the exact same spot after death.
I was inspired to make this after I saw a near-death survivor share a near-death experience. There's a video called "Atheist Ask God Why Are Humans So Dark and Doomed?" and you'll notice in the captions this is a person who died, went into the afterlife, and came back. The one quote that really caught my attention is that nothing you will ever do, not even what Adolf Hitler did, changes where you end up. Adolf Hitler was tainted, and yet no matter what you do, you will be going to the same place as everybody else.
To me, that's true humility. True humility is realizing our own divinity, our own equality. That no matter how good you are, how bad you are, you're going back after death to the place of infinite love, of purification, and then of opportunity to come back into this world if you'd like, or to go somewhere else.
Who Decides Who Is Good and Bad?
I know some of you are very attached to this idea that bad people go to hell and get punished, and good people go to heaven and get all the nice stuff in life. But who decides who's good and bad? I was a correctional officer in prison before. One of the things that really stuck with me is the feeling that the only real difference between those kids and me was where we started. I was a juvenile correctional officer, so most of the people I worked with had murdered, or raped, or murdered and raped. I was in with the sex offenders, the juveniles who'd done some of the worst crimes in the state.
And the only difference I could see between them and me is that I had a loving childhood where my parents took good care of me. These kids grew up in really rough environments where they were often victims themselves, and from there, they victimized others. That helps you see the purity we all come into this world with as innocent babies, a purity that is never truly lost.
Now, you might look at what someone grows up to do. And I certainly, everything I'm about is promoting love. I'm basically the opposite of a Hitler. I'm all about promoting love and connection and service, let's lift each other up and make a better world by enjoying the world we have today and reaching out and helping others. That's basically the opposite of a Hitler philosophy of "let's kill off everyone we don't like. The world sucks today. We're going to kill everybody we don't like, and then it'll be a great world when they're all dead." I'm pretty much the opposite of that philosophy. And yet I see that I'm going the same direction. I see the ultimate humility in this: I'm not any better or worse.
From God's point of view, we all have free will. We're all free. We're all divine immortal souls, and often our childhoods condition us so much that what we do in life is a product of where we came from. If you'd like to sit with ideas like these alongside people who are working through them too, you're welcome to join the Jerry Banfield Family community and talk it through with me.
You're Not Going to Hell Unless You Want To
Today, this leaves me feeling that I need to make sure you know you're not going to hell unless you want to. You are the creator of your reality. If you want to sentence yourself to hell, I don't care what you've done. I doubt you can top Hitler and the things he did. You may have all this shame about, "oh, I did this or I did that, and I'm such a bad person because I did this and I did that." No, you're not. If you want to send yourself to hell, you can take a little trip to hell if you'd like. But as soon as you want to get out of there, you will be released from that.
I've heard a lot of stories of past lives and reincarnations, and I hope this has been really helpful for you to see today that if Hitler can go to heaven, you can too. To me, heaven is the one destination we're all guaranteed to get to. If you want to go through hell, you can go through that if you like, but that's up to you. And it doesn't matter what anybody else tells you. You know what's true inside your own heart and soul. If you'd like to hear more of how I've come to see all of this, I share a lot of it across my Life playlist.
I appreciate you staying through all of it. You're one of the ones who actually made it to the end. I love you. You're awesome.
