Going all in on YouTube
My friends, today I'm becoming a full time YouTuber. I'm all in on YouTube. I've gone all in and been a YouTuber before, and I quit doing it for various reasons, and I'm back now. What does this mean for you? It means you can expect new videos and/or live streams from me every day. I'm setting the intention that I will clearly and completely remove my focus off of nearly everything else and put at least 90%, if not all, of my effort and attention into creating for YouTube.
I see YouTube as the platform. It's the place where people are watching, and it's not going anywhere. I see streaming going toward YouTube. YouTube has been incredible for me over the years, and I've consistently refused up until now to commit. I've been monetized consistently with no issues from as soon as I got monetized, which was like 10 years ago. Now I'm all in on my channel, and I've learned a lot to get here. What you can expect from me is new videos. I'd like to do a live stream and a recorded video every day on any different subject.
What I've learned is that I can't be locked into one specific topic, having to talk about a certain subject. I'll just trust the algorithm to put my stuff out to the right people. I'm just going to talk about whatever I want every day, do whatever I want, play whatever I want, and throw it all up on my YouTube channel and see what happens.
What I learned the last time I did this
I was a full time YouTuber for a little while, and I've learned a lot since then. When I was doing it before, I was trying to put on this persona, this image, trying to impress people. I felt really bad about the views I was getting, and now I don't care. I've made almost no money. All right, I've made thousands just from affiliate commissions, YouTube ads, and Facebook supporters. Even though I've been demonetized for four months, I still got $300 in Facebook supporters. I've made my definition of no money, which has been like a couple thousand a month. But basically, I haven't made any new money off of anything I've created recently.
I've been asking, looking, struggling, and figuring out what the heck I should do with myself. Well, the only logical thing of what I really want to do is just devote myself to YouTube as a creator. Facebook, I'm not going to do that. Facebook is not a viable platform to go all in creating on, as I've found. It's very easy for it to all fall apart. YouTube is very stable. I've made a ton of different content on YouTube. The same thing that got me demonetized on Facebook, no action at all was taken on YouTube, not even limited ads or anything. That shows me YouTube is the platform to go all in on. YouTube has YouTube search. It has videos getting embedded and shared. YouTube is the place to be.
Where my channel stands today
So what's the problem? What I intend to do is create two videos a day and keep a spreadsheet on it. What I'm really interested to see is where this goes over time. Right now, this is kind of a low for my YouTube channel. It's been a slide. My channel hit some height of glory, and it has continually slid since then. As I'm recording this, it's June 23rd, 2022, and I'm very interested to see, when I devote my entire attention and all that I've got to YouTube, what happens.
The community I'm paying attention to now is on YouTube. I'm not paying attention to what's going on with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok. I don't care about that. This is my community, and I read every comment right now. So these are the metrics we're starting off with, and it's certainly been a slide over the years. If you look at the lifetime of my channel, it has hit some big highs when I was paying a lot of attention to it, and then it just consistently slid downward over the years. I tried to pump it up and do a bunch of ads and stuff, and that all failed miserably.
Having fun and going for a thousand a day
I love doing my channel. I love creating videos. I'm really good at it. I love live streaming, and we're going to do it all here. Games, crypto videos, we're going to do everything. We're just going to put it all up here, throw it all up, and see what sticks and have fun with it. First and foremost, have fun with it. I'd love to make a thousand a day on my YouTube channel at some point. I was thinking, well, what do I need to do that? I need to go all in on YouTube and just create two videos a day for YouTube like I was doing for Udemy. Very simple. So I'm very excited to do this.
I'm very excited to do this journey with you. Thank you for being here. You are one of the few people who stuck it out to the end, and I'm going to keep cranking out videos in all different formats each day. I'd love to get to know you better, and if you want to go deeper on any of this with me, the best way to work with me today is to join my community, the Jerry Banfield Family, where we can actually talk through it together. If you want more of my thinking on growing a channel, I've put a lot of it into my YouTube Coaching playlist.
I love you. You're awesome. And I'm going to film another one right now after this.
