ICP Turned Crypto Into a Ticking Time Bomb

ICP Turned Crypto Into a Ticking Time Bomb

Internet Computer Protocol, or ICP, has turned the rest of crypto into a ticking time bomb. Because crypto could have gone on indefinitely, continuing to just lie and be all about narratives and exchange listings, influencer opinions, bull runs, vague roadmaps, partnerships, tokenomics, deflation, token burns, and promises of future adoption. That is the old crypto game, and that game was going on for most of a decade until 2021, when Internet Computer Protocol introduced real, game-changing technology. And how hilarious is this thumbnail? I love this thumbnail. Internet Computer Protocol has now made it so you can rebuild the whole internet securely to prevent cybercrime, a $10 trillion a year problem, and to verify and run hosted AI. If no real technology existed, crypto could indefinitely keep doing what it's doing. But there's a problem. ICP does exist. And that's why crypto has been so hostile, doing everything you can imagine.

The exchanges set ICP up to look like a rug pull

Look at crypto exchanges like Coinbase and Binance. They listed ICP at its rightful place as the top two or three when it launched, but with a grossly inflated price. And that guaranteed there would be a rug pull. Can you blame someone who had ICP and saw it list for $700-and-some dollars? Can you blame somebody for selling ICP at that price? The narratives of people saying, "Well, DFINITY dumped on us when it was $750." Anyone who had ICP and saw the listing go up for $750, why wouldn't they dump? The exchanges are responsible for setting that ultra-high, insane price. If the exchanges had set a lower price, the chart wouldn't look like a rug pull. But ICP is so threatening. What's up, Greg and Lucros? Luca, nice to see you both on the live stream.

ICP has ruined the game for the rest of crypto. So all the rest of crypto has desperately done whatever it takes to keep ICP quiet for as long as possible. But now, as I showed in my recent live stream, Sui's co-founder is trying to pretend that Sui is doing what ICP is doing. That is a sign that the end is coming for crypto, for the rest of these blockchains. That's why I have the ICP coin holding a time bomb over the rest of crypto. I had this realization three years ago: once you understand ICP, the rest of crypto is going to be the end of the world. And I'm not saying that to be dramatic. I'm just saying that the rest of crypto is utterly useless. There's no purpose for it outside of being a collectible. People might collect Bitcoin. They might collect Ethereum. They might keep a few of the old coins. But the rest of crypto is utterly useless next to ICP, because ICP has game-changing technology.

Before ICP, people could just say, "Well, all chains are early. Everyone's building. It's not about the tech. It's all speculation." But ICP brings the question: why does your chain, why does everything besides ICP, need Amazon, bridges, centralized front ends, wrapped assets, and five-plus different middlemen, if ICP can do all of it? That is a question that destroys all the rest of crypto. It encourages you to look at things you didn't realize were important.

My website is hosted on the blockchain

For example, my website at jerrybanfield.com, which I always make sure to talk about for multiple reasons. Number one: if you want to really be in the inner circle, go on my website and join the Jerry Banfield family. But check this out. This website is hosted on the blockchain. This technology is so far past what any other blockchain can do that these other blockchains are trying to pretend they can do it, because they don't think you'll actually figure out that they can't. Isn't that crazy how that works?

This website is hosted on the blockchain. Why does that matter? You might say, "So what? This website's on a blockchain. Why not just put it on WordPress?" Number one, it would cost more to have it on WordPress. This is almost free. I've burned $15 in cycles. I have a blog now on this website. It has 746 posts. Rick for Liberty and Lynx, nice to see you. Yes, holding ICP is being in the inner circle. It's a good thing. It really is. This is the most suppressed, most important information in crypto by far. And it's only a matter of time.

How I actually found ICP

I'm not some super smart, special guy. I've just asked more thoughtful questions than other people. The main reason I actually found ICP is because people kept scheduling one-on-one calls with me in 2023. They kept asking me, "Okay, Jerry, you shilled Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana." What was that one that went to zero, DeSo, Cardano, XRP, BNB? Yes, I did. BNB, Binance, I did that. A few tokens on Base, too. I shilled so many coins in 2023. And then, after shilling all these coins, I built a crypto channel up to 50,000 subscribers. I started making $10,000 a month selling an online course. From almost everyone else's viewpoint, I was winning.

But then I sold this course for $300. People would come have a one-on-one call with me for an hour. And they'd ask, "Okay, Jerry, you shilled 30 different coins in the last two months. Which one's actually good?" That was the whole point. They paid $300 just to ask me, "You know all this stuff about all these coins. Which one is better than all the others?" And I found myself giving really crappy, uninformed answers. "Well, yeah, Solana's got fast transactions. Well, DeSo with the social. Well, Bitcoin, the value." Bitcoin was at like 20-some thousand back then, and I did videos saying I was buying Bitcoin back then. That was right, wasn't it?

After all that, I had the humbling realization that even though from everybody else's point of view I looked like some super smart, successful guy rapidly growing a brand-new crypto channel, making all kinds of money, getting lots of views, having all kinds of subscribers who loved that I agreed that their coin was awesome, I looked in the mirror and I was like, "You're a dummy. You don't know anything. These people are asking you a very simple question, and you can't give them a simple answer back."

So I found ICP because I went looking for it. Most people don't even think to go looking for it. Or most people go on something like CoinGecko and just get hopeless. I remember so many days when I was making videos about crypto, which you'd think would indicate I knew something. I'd been in crypto at that point nine years. I remember so many days of looking through this mess thinking, "Okay, one of these has got to be better than the other ones, right? One of these has to not just be speculation and hype. One of these has to be a big deal." But I'd scroll and think, "I can't tell which one it is. I can't tell which one it is just by scrolling through a price chart."

I even looked at Internet Computer months before, and I heard the big narrative, but I didn't get it. Looks like I'm going to need to buy some more ICP. I lost $200 on the value of the ICP I bought before, so we have to throw good money after bad. But I remember looking through the price chart and thinking, "I don't know. I'm going to have to go through all of this," and wondering, "Why can't I figure out which one of these is better than the others? Why can't I figure that out?" Now, how many people in crypto even look through this and try to figure out which one's the best? How many just give up and think, "Ah, it's hopeless"?

But I was challenged face-to-face on Zoom. And after enough people left me feeling like, "Oh, I'm going to have to go through all this like an idiot." How much of an idiot do you think I felt like when somebody paid me $300 to talk to me, and I'd get off the call thinking, "I hope they didn't realize how dumb that sounded, what I said. I hope they didn't see what an idiot I am." And that's the starting point in crypto. A lot of times, genius begins with realizing you don't know anything. And that's where my genius with crypto began, realizing after nine years that I didn't know anything. I was like, "Okay, well, what do I really need to know? What I really should know is, is there one coin that's different than all these others, that's taking a different approach, that's built on technology that matters? Let me go find that."

Link says we're at 160 blocks a second, up from 40 one year ago. That's huge. You can look at that on the dashboard, and they've now been featuring that: 155 blocks a second, when these other chains are celebrating that they're faster than Bitcoin. 155 blocks a second, 49 subnets in 33 countries. And look at the power usage on this thing, which is a narrative that's going to come back someday. The power just went up significantly. I wonder what happened. 400 kilowatts. That's like 50 to 100 air conditioners.

I'm not special. And the more crypto sucks, the more the price charts in crypto suck, the more the coins don't go up, the more people are going to realize how naive, ignorant, and dumb they've been with their crypto investing. So a lot of people will just exit. But some people are going to start asking better questions. They're going to start saying, "All right, how did I get fooled into buying Solana or XRP or Ethereum or Cardano? Or Bitcoin? How did I get fooled into buying something that had no real value?" And the more people who start to realize that not only do they not know anything, but the people they watch don't know anything either, the more people are going to figure, "Okay, either I need to quit this, or I need to find out what everybody's not telling me." And we haven't even had a proper bull market. We had a little meme coin craze.

Robert, nice to see you. Thank you for being on the channel. I've had several one-on-one calls with Robert. I appreciate your support. Roland says, "I don't know if you saw the video I did on ICP years ago. It's basically a poem." I don't know if I saw that either. Anything you want to share like that, the Jerry Banfield community on Skool would be the best place to share it with me. That's the place to do it.

Looking back at these videos in five years

Roland says, "I can't wait until like five years or so in the future, and people look back at these videos." Me too. I've consistently been very early on things like tech trends. I'm all over AI in my creative flow. It's nuts how much I use AI. This is obviously a beautifully generated AI thumbnail. When I want to make a point in a video, I use AI to make sure I'm not missing obvious stuff. Like, I went off on a little tangent here, but I'll go back to some of the points. Literally, with ChatGPT, look at this. It generates a thumbnail. I give it prompts. I tell it, "All right, this is what I want to talk about today. Here's my idea." And then it's like, "Okay, well, here's some ideas around that." This technology is brilliant, and I'm all over it because it makes my creative workflow insanely faster. And it makes sure that it's not just a long, rambling, repetitive retread. But I don't just read whatever the AI says, either. That's not genuinely helpful, and that's boring. And ChatGPT is so, so careful.

So the ticking time bomb mechanism. ChatGPT can easily point this out. Here is a possible sequence that the AI came up with itself. Step one: developers realizing ICP can host things other chains cannot. This is happening all over the place. And for years, this has been happening.

Developers realize they can only build this on ICP

With Caffeine AI, with Claude Code built into the IC, where you can just dump it into the ICP blockchain like my website, more and more people are realizing, "I can build stuff on ICP I can't build anywhere else." I don't know any other way to do it, and I've done a lot in web hosting and built all kinds of websites. I don't know any other way I could easily grind out a website with 746 blog posts, a color scheme I'm happy with, no censorship, in practical terms exactly how I want it to look, for a hundred dollars a month to use Claude to do this and all the other stuff. And I've spent less than ten dollars in ICP to host this website, and I only even get charged when you actually go to it and use it. That's what's up.

Right now you've already got developers realizing, "Whoa, this tech can do stuff that nothing else can do." And here's another thing: serious builders quietly start integrating or migrating. This is absolutely happening. But it's not happening out there in your face. It takes a while to build things. You've seen projects like Bioniq, the Bitcoin ordinals project. Even though I expressed concerns about the multi-sig wallet, which turned out to be an issue, they built a huge Bitcoin ordinals platform directly on ICP. They tried not to even talk about using ICP, but serious builders are building, integrating, and migrating into ICP right now.

Nice to see you, Mellow. Robert says, "I'm buying the crap out of ICP." To me, the price where it's at today, if you bought higher, this is your chance to get even. I literally took a credit card cash advance to buy another 995 ICP. I'm like, this is nuts. That credit card cash advance is 12% APR. In my belief, ICP could go up five or ten times over the next year. This is not financial advice, just my own bet. So right now, we have very strong evidence developers are moving to ICP, and I personally am doing it, which is pretty good evidence.

Governments and whales are moving behind the scenes

Serious builders quietly start integrating or migrating. We have governments like Pakistan and Switzerland, and imagine all the things that are not public that are already happening behind the scenes. It takes a while to move over to a tech stack. There have been years where DFINITY has clearly positioned themselves with people who are very important, like the World Economic Forum, the United Nations. They all know about DFINITY. They know about ICP. They know what it can do. They've got connections, they're reaching out, but it can take years to really get things moving and built. And with cloud engines, it's easier than ever now.

You also have Bitcoin and Ethereum assets becoming way more useful and secure with Chain Fusion and chain-key tokens. This is a huge thing. There's no better scaling solution for both Bitcoin and Ethereum than ICP, and it's both on the same infrastructure. So then what happens? Influencers notice the narrative shift and start pivoting. You've already seen signals that this is happening. I remember the day my jaw dropped when Altcoin Daily posted ICP. I was like, wow. That was a year or two ago. You've seen little signs that influencers, at least the ones who don't have a non-disclosure agreement preventing them from talking about ICP, are noticing the narrative shift. Influencers like me. I've pivoted all my content. Three years ago, again, I'm early, but people are in most probabilities going to follow me. Not financial advice.

Then this is kind of where we're stuck right now. Funds and whales realizing ICP is not just another altcoin. To me, this is where the bomb starts to blow. This place is about to blow once funds and whales start to realize ICP is not just another altcoin. And some of them quietly have. But here's the thing: do you think if you're sitting on $100 million, you're going to tell your friends to buy ICP before you've bought as much as you possibly can? The funds and whales who are onto ICP are probably keeping that as quiet as possible. When they see it go down, they're stacking. They're trying not to move the price. They're loading. They don't want to do anything to stop this buying opportunity.

It's funny, because crypto retail is panicking about the ICP price, while funds and whales who realize ICP is not just another altcoin are jumping up and down for joy every day the price is low, because they need time to push into ICP. They need time to dump their other coins. They need time to pivot. And the more that happens, liquidity will start draining from narrative-only chains. It may not be that they're into anything at first, but when people in crypto realize how useless almost everything else is and start dumping, they'll be looking for something to put it into. And here's what unfortunately will happen: funds and whales are going to be figuring this stuff out well in advance of the liquidity moving.

Where the bottom is, and when the bomb goes off

What's up, Mellow, nice to see you today. You feel like this upcoming winner will gain the same momentum price-wise as Dash in 2016-2017? That sounds good to me. What price do you think will be the bottom for ICP? In my opinion, around two is probably the bottom, because the lower it goes, the more aggressive the accumulation gets. You can only push it so low before people are just going to buy every single bit of it. Not financial advice, just how I see the accumulation working.

But the last step, to me, before this collapses, is that retail realizes many coins had no value and no use case. That's where the time bomb goes off. Because once ordinary people in crypto retail realize this and start bull-posting it on their accounts, once people with big money notice "uh oh, crypto retail is onto ICP," that's the moment. What absolutely can't happen, from the perspective of all the bigger money, is that crypto retail finds out about ICP, because crypto retail collectively has a lot of money. The whole thing is designed to rip off crypto retail. So once crypto retail realizes ICP is in, once crypto retail notices that ICP is different, then all the bigger money is going to shift in before most of crypto retail does. And when that happens, a bunch of tokens could violently reprice in a very short amount of time.

Right now, narratives often unwind very slowly. It's taken years for people in crypto to see that almost nothing in crypto is true. Almost everything is lying, cheating, stealing, and saying anything to get people to buy your coin: taking money to promote your coin, paying to silence your competition, suing your competition, shutting your competition up by any means necessary, promising things you know you can never do. And when people realize it, it's like a few years ago, when people were very seriously taking all the nonsense that was being fed to them. I called it out as nonsense immediately, from the very beginning, before any of the crazy things happened. I said, "This is all crap. This is not true. This is ridiculous." And I fought the entire time, and it took a few years, but lots of other people eventually saw through all of it too. What's kind of amazing is that a lot of people are just like, "Oh well, glad that's over." Glad that's over? But in crypto, the same kind of thing has been going on, where people are asleep at the wheel in their crypto investments, and they're only going to realize when they see they're about to wreck.

I'm not saying every coin is going to go down 90% tomorrow. I'm saying there are a lot of scenarios where ICP does a 10 or 20x and a bunch of other coins do a minus 50 or minus 60. A giant repricing. And that'll be because big positions exit. Some fund with billions of dollars of crypto dumps tens of millions of Solana, millions of Cardano, millions if not tens of millions of XRP. One big fund dumps all of them, which tanks all the prices, and yolos all their money into ICP. Right now, ICP is so small and crypto is such a house of cards. A lot of the big funds are more than likely centrally controlled, and they're in on the game, and they're not allowed to do that. But at this point, ICP is so big and so important that all it takes is one little rogue fund that somehow has gotten out of control with a few hundred million dollars, and they're like, "Buy as much as you can of that." ICP shoots up, crypto retail FOMOs in, I'm sitting here with my videos, Bobby Oh is sitting here with his Blockchain Pill, Zero to Hero is here, all of us explaining what's different. Influencers start to see, "Oh boy, here comes ICP, now's the time, I've got to jump on this, because if I don't jump on this now, I'm going to look like an idiot." Influencers pile on.

Some influencers can't even mention it when the price pumps, because they're that locked down. If you want to see how locked down your influencer is, watch whenever ICP actually has a pump. See if they even talk about it. See if ICP is banned in their comments or not. Then you'll start to see how dystopian crypto is. Most ordinary influencers are not married to a chain, but most of the top ones seem to be bought and paid for. The rotation to ICP could be fairly rapid and destructive. It could be like a disclosure day, but for crypto, where people are like, "Oh boy, wow, turns out we've had something real the whole time here. Just found it."

Now, this does not mean ICP adoption is guaranteed overnight. This process could take years longer. Unfortunately, it could. I hope we're going to see some significant action before I run out of runway. I should have at least until the end of the year, thanks to a six-figure credit limit based on my previous earnings. And if people keep joining, somebody just joined jerrybanfield.com. If y'all keep joining there, you can DM me. I had a Zoom call with Scouse Will yesterday. I've got my AI that I'm training like crazy in there. If y'all keep joining, the ad revenue keeps going up, and we might make this thing work. So if ICP can pump before I run out of credit card cash advances, this will be great. I hope the next six months is really bullish. ICP is still tied up with Bitcoin, but ICP is the biggest outlier in crypto at this point, where something that goes against everything else in crypto can happen to it. So I don't know how long this will take, and there will likely be huge resistance continually across the industry. But when you start seeing little breakouts, when you start seeing influencers suddenly talk about ICP who never mentioned it or never said a positive thing about it, those are signs.

The longer the bear market lasts, the more that's going to be good for ICP, because most people are not going to realize that their crypto investment portfolio is absolute garbage, that these other cryptos have nothing but price action, narratives, and hype behind them. ICP has tech. And most of the adoption I see in ICP, nobody even cares about the price. They're building on it for the technology. Pakistan doesn't care about the price of ICP; they're building on it for the technology. I don't care about the price of ICP in terms of the tech. I have a website. I care about whether I can host my website on ICP. You can dig into more of this on my ICP Crypto playlist.

Real tech doing something valuable, fully on chain

This is where you can join the family and book a 30-minute Zoom call. I had a very interesting one-on-one call yesterday that wasn't at all about crypto, which was great. This is real tech doing something very valuable and important, fully on chain. I care about that, and this is what the world cares about collectively. The world cares about what you can do for us. ICP says: we can host the internet in the most decentralized, secure format. We have the best setup in the world right now for any kind of meaningful decentralized AI or agents. We have the best setup in the world for a truly decentralized exchange. We have the best setup in the world for solopreneurs to build a website with Claude and stick it on the blockchain and keep it secure, hack-proof, and cheap.

This is the ticking time bomb: ICP is doing something real, and everybody else is faking it. Everybody else is essentially doing a magic show. All these other coins are going to sink. They're going to blow. And I'm going to play Kesha's "Blow." This place is about to blow. I'm really looking forward to the day these other cryptos get destroyed, and I'm trying to help as many people get out of them as possible, because unfortunately crypto retail is going to get absolutely annihilated when this happens, if it happens. This obviously wasn't financial advice. I'm a full-time YouTuber. Thank you for watching.
