This is my journal entry from October 17, 2025, part of my daily autobiography The Kind Divorce — my real, unedited days, published in order.
Thank you for finishing The Kind Divorce, written and published by me, Jerry Banfield. When I began this book on August 30, I had no idea what it would become. I couldn’t have predicted that I’d drop out of massage school, or that by the time I’d be ready to publish it on Amazon, I’d be sitting in my own house just down the street from the one I shared with my ex-wife. What I’m most grateful for is that through nearly all of this process, my ex-wife and I have remained kind to each other. That spirit of kindness has been the foundation of everything that followed including submitting our divorce papers last week and helping me move.
Today, I’m most excited about my future than I have been in a long time. I’ve already written half of another book that continues this story from the moment I move out and begin rebuilding on my own. I’ve also started a dating book that begins with me newly divorced, completely single for the first time since 2011, documenting exactly how I go about finding another loving relationship. In the past two weeks, I also published I Was Famous on the Internet, and the reactions have been outstanding—heartfelt messages, deep resonance, and a sense that the vulnerability I shared truly connected with readers.
Alongside that, I finished a letter I’ll include with my books when I hand them out. It’s an honest invitation asking for help with two areas of my life where I know there’s immense opportunity—dating and finances. I have so much to offer, yet I’m still discovering how and to whom I should offer it. My website, jerrybanfield.com, is now fully set up for anyone who wants to schedule time to visit. You can come over for a couple of hours to talk about this book, any of my books, or your own life. You can also just play board games or enjoy a movement practice. Every visit, every purchase, every interaction directly supports my work and helps me keep doing what I love.
I’m grouping these diary-style books—Author in St. Petersburg, The Kind Divorce, and the ones to come—into a single series called Daily Autobiography, so you can follow my life one volume at a time in order. My goal is to continue publishing a new journal book every month, indefinitely alongside other books. If you enjoy reading about my life, you’ll always have something new to look forward to and you can read them in order by following the series.
Thank you for taking the time to read The Kind Divorce. I hope to see you again in the next book—and maybe even in person someday.
