I'm Not an Average Guy

I'm Not an Average Guy

It's August 3rd, 2026. I'm Jerry Banfield. This is my daily vlog as a full-time YouTuber, single dad who's dating, and cult leader — according to some people. We're working on making this a better cult. I should actually get paid as the cult leader, right? So I'm really grateful. Somebody just joined first thing this morning. Let's go. Let's build this thing up, baby.

Two Women Texted Me This Morning

So what has happened in the last 24 hours? Well, the woman I was talking about yesterday, the one I'd met before, just texted me this morning after I hadn't heard from her since Friday. I'd sent her a Hinge rose yesterday, and then she texted me today — I don't know if she's even seen my Hinge rose yet. And I'm getting to this crazy place now. I was supposed to have a tennis date with another woman this morning, but it's raining hard out, so I invited her to do yoga instead. Dude, this is so crazy, and it shouldn't work like this, but I've gotten to the point where I'm talking to so many women now that I'm not that concerned with any of them. In fact, I can easily just think, whatever — this is wasting my time.

Like this woman I messaged for the date this morning. I said, hey, I'm going to yoga if you want to come. She asked when, and could I send her the details about yoga. Here it is. She's like, how many people are there? I'm like, there are 20 or 30 people, maybe three or four men, so I'm easy to recognize. She's like, it makes sense why you go there — I totally understand. I think she's trying to flirt there, but I'm just like, I've got work to do. I'm tired of putting my time into this conversation. I already gave her all the information she needs to show up. It doesn't matter to me if she comes to the class or not — I'm going there anyway. I'm not trying to sell her.

And then the other woman texts me at almost the same time this morning. She's like, hey, I'm replying to you on my personal line, I'm traveling, and hopefully we'll see each other at future events soon. And I'm just kind of like — she didn't reply for a couple of days, and I don't know if I have anything to say right now. I'm not going to see her at one of those events. I'm not interested in spending time being friends or just talking with her. All I'm interested in is meeting up and doing something one-on-one with her. If she doesn't want to do that, I'm not interested in taking my time to talk to her.

The Four-Minute Voice Memo Strategy

Then I got a match last night with a woman on Hinge, and I'm trying this new voice memo strategy. She actually liked me first at 10:20 last night. I matched her at 10:28, and then I sent her a four-minute voice memo right after that. My time and attention are valuable, and I want to filter out anyone immediately who's going to waste it — which is why I don't read the YouTube comments anymore. Those are just wasting my time. I don't care what some random person coming over from some other channel that did videos talking about me has to say. I don't have time for that. But if you join the family, I've got time to read all your messages, pay attention to you, and give my attention to you.

It's so funny. I gave this one woman, the queen, all my attention and withdrew my attention from other people. And then she gets the idea that, well, I must like her more than she likes me. And it's like, no — I just pulled my attention away from everybody else. It's so dumb. It shouldn't work like this. But now I scatter my attention, and I don't get anxious about any of these women I'm talking to, because I don't have anything invested emotionally. Sure, I'd love for something to develop, and for one of them and me to make an amazing life together, but I don't have anything invested emotionally. And what's dumb is that that's probably much more attractive to them. It signals to them that maybe they like me more than I like them, and then they want to pursue me. It's so silly. We should just be able to show up, be authentic, get excited, and go from there. But we have to play these games. And I'm going to play the game, and I'm going to win — because to me, winning the game is having a woman I really love and making an amazing partnership in my life. If that means I have to put in as little interest as possible and diversify my attention, I'm willing to do that.

A Room Full of Men at AA

Yesterday I also went to an AA meeting, and it was great. There were only men there. A lot of times it's not a men's meeting, but this time there were only men, and it's nice — when I'm going to an AA meeting, I don't want to be distracted with women. Which is so funny, because I used to not like going to men's meetings as much. I mostly went to co-ed meetings. Even when I was married — sad to say — I would mostly go to the meetings where the most attractive women were, because that made things more interesting. But it's funny now: I have women I'm talking to and trying to date, and maybe one will turn into a great relationship and a life together. When I'm not in that mode of talking to someone to date them, I want to just be able to be myself.

Last night in that AA meeting, I shared at a much deeper and more graphic level than I will out in public on YouTube — which is funny, because I already share pretty deep here. But when I'm in a room full of men, it's different. Basically, my YouTube channels are rooms full of men anyway — occasionally a woman pops in, but my audience on most of my channels is 96% men, according to YouTube. So I'm generally talking to men in my videos. And it's nice that when I go to a meeting, I can just share from the heart and not worry about how much I'm swearing, or the things I'm saying, or whether men are going to be offended on behalf of women who, lots of times, aren't even offended. It's so nice that I've gotten clear: I'm going to AA for recovery. I'm going to save my life, and I'm going to help save someone else's life. It'd be better if I didn't meet a woman at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. I need to be focused.

Scheduling a Week of Videos Ahead

And today, this morning, I'm grateful I've had these women text me. At the same time, I'm like — I have work to do. My kids are coming over this afternoon, and I want to get at least six, if not eight-plus, videos done this morning before my kids come over. I want to get these videos scheduled. My vlogs are already scheduled several days in advance, but I want to get three to seven days of videos all scheduled in advance on my channels so that I can take a week off. Then my videos will just relentlessly march out in the algorithm the whole time and bring more people into the community. If I'm on vacation, the only thing I need to pay attention to is the messages I'm getting in the Jerry Banfield Family community. And I'm grateful I'm feeling so wealthy, so grateful, and so abundant.

My Strongest Dating Profile Yet

It's funny how, as soon as this one woman matched me on Hinge last night, I got all excited. I'm like, wow, she's pretty. She's more than five years younger than me, she wants to have a family, and she actually liked me first. I finally got my dating profile to a place where it seems to be the strongest one I've ever had, and it's getting a really positive reception. Either that, or there are just more women on the apps right now who are looking. If you want to see my dating profile, I shared my exact dating profile in a recent video.

I made some changes to it yesterday, too. I got a picture with my son where you can't see his face. I just dumped like a hundred different little photos into ChatGPT and asked, which one of these? And it said: you're a dad, you want more kids, you should have a picture with your kids. I'm like, okay, but I don't want to show my kids' faces. So I had this one photo of me snuggling my son in a chair, and ChatGPT said to put that one in there. I had my daughter take the photo, and it's so funny — she's like, dad, why him? Why not me? I'm like, I don't know, you're so big right now. Maybe I'll get one with both of them giving me a hug or something. But it shows my more warm, emotional side, and I'll put it in an updated dating video with my updated Hinge profile. That picture immediately got a like. I also replaced one of the other pictures, because — dude, is it just me, or do I look really good with the lighting I've got set up in the studio? Somebody would probably say I'm narcissistic, but while I was filming I kept glancing over at the monitor thinking, bro, that's a nice-looking face.

And to go in line with yesterday's video — maybe I need to be honest that I'm not an average guy out here just trying to date, and that maybe I don't even understand what average men are going through. That's helped me adjust. I need to stop acting like I'm trying to teach average guys, or like I'm just an average guy sharing what I'm going through. If I'm honest — and I hope I'm honest — I'm a top 10% man. I'm a good-looking guy. Now, there are certainly guys who look better and are more ripped, but I've got a nice-looking face. I was looking around at the AA meeting last night thinking, I'm definitely the best-looking guy in this meeting of like 20 guys. I'm gorgeous. Especially with my hair grown out longer, I really look a lot better. I think my haircut really helped too. That was one of the best pieces of advice somebody gave me: stop shaving your head — look at this beautiful head of hair you've got.

It makes a difference in how you look. Some people who knew me when I had longer hair told me, you need to grow your hair out again — stop shaving your head, you've got a nice head of hair. And that makes a big difference. So I'm not an average guy. I'm probably top 5% in intelligence. I'm very smart — that's why I figure all this stuff out. I'm constantly analyzing and learning across all areas of my life. And according to the last doctor I went to — and that was six or seven years ago, and I imagine I've gotten much healthier since then — I was in the top 10% of all their patients in terms of health. That's my experience, and I believe it's still true.

I Will Help You Be Like Me

I realized I need to start teaching people to be like me — and I've already been doing that. If you want to be like me, join the Jerry Banfield Family and tell me about your life. I will lead by example. I'm not going to give you medical advice or financial advice or legal advice. But I'll look at your life and say, look, if I was you, these are some of the biggest areas you might consider making improvements in that would change your life. For me, stopping drinking was the biggest area — as long as I drank alcohol, everything else in my life was kind of pointless, because it was sabotaging everything. Then changing my diet was one of the biggest things I did that helped me across everything else, along with reading the book How Not to Die.

This Is Not My Experience of Dating

I am not an average guy. I'm not an average dude. So many people are talking about how horrible dating is and how average men are never going to touch a woman, and I'm like — this is not my experience. I'm not sure exactly how many women I'm talking to right now. I can look on Hinge and see: I just started this profile up a couple of days ago, and I have three matches right now. I got a match yesterday and sent a four-minute voice note. That woman didn't respond back, which is fine — I don't waste my time. Some of these guys are like, yeah, a woman can only handle short little messages. And it's like, no — I want a woman where I drop a four-minute voice note and she drops a four-minute voice note back. I don't want to sit there and play these little text games. This is my world, and you're going to be in it. I'm not trying to play in your world. I'm going to send voice memos, because this is how I normally communicate, and it's annoying to try to write some stupid little text message unless it's very superficial and easy.

Over a Billion Impressions

So I'm grateful that I'm not an average guy. I haven't had a job in over a decade — that's not an average guy. Maybe that is turning into an average guy, but I've been famous online. I'm so well known that I run into random people all over who don't even realize at first that they watched my videos. I just ran into another person the other day who realized, dude, I used to watch your videos 10 years ago. And I ran into a guy one of the last times I was at the gym — he sees my name on my shirt and he's like, oh my God, Jerry Banfield. When I was a gaming streamer in 2016, I would play with hundreds of people from my audience, and he's like, I used to play with you in 2016, 10 years ago. Holy crap, nice to meet you in person. That's unusual. I've gotten over a billion impressions on things I've created online. That is unusual, and I'm very grateful for that.

At the same time, though, I can't go around acting like I'm an average guy getting average results. I'm a top 10% guy getting top 10% guy results, where I pick up very attractive women in person and some of the most attractive women on dating apps are matching me and looking to make dates. Like this woman I was supposed to have a tennis date with this morning — she's beautiful, a few years younger. I thought she wants kids, but actually, no, she said she does not want kids, so that's an issue. That's not usual, though. Now that I've stepped my dating profile up to better represent me, I'm getting results I have not been getting on dating apps before, and I'm really grateful for that. So at least now I'm clear: I will help you be like me, if you want to be like me.

I believe I'm at the top in health, and one reason I look nice — I don't think I looked as good back when my ex met me 15 years ago — is that how I look is a function of how I think and how I take care of myself. I've come to believe that's why we're often drawn to people who are attractive: one reason I think I look beautiful on the outside is because of what I do on the inside and how I take care of myself. And I haven't stepped out in front of a bus or anything, so I'm grateful. At the same time, beauty fades. So I'm going to make as many of these videos while I look good as I can — you can find all of my dating journey in my Dating playlist — and I'm going to be grateful for that.

Chanting Thank You Instead of Fear

The final thing I'll wrap up on: I've noticed how often, when great things happen, there's a brief moment of saying thank you, and right after that I'm like, this is annoying. The moment of gratitude comes and goes quickly, and it goes right back to fear. So I've been intending to just kind of chant thank you. Thank you for this woman messaging me this morning. Thank you for this match on Hinge. Thank you for another person joining the Jerry Banfield Family today — five days in a row, somebody new has joined. And thank you that it looks like the income is all going to work out for me online. Instead of thinking about the queen and being all sad — thank you that I got to spend a week and 12 hours with her in person, where it was awesome. Thank you for all the learning she helped me do in my life. Thank you for this Bible I'm reading and learning from. Thank you for all of you reading and watching. To me, that's my main thing to do going forward: constantly chanting thank you instead of the criticism, the fear, the uncertainty, the doubt — just saying thank you.

I really appreciate you putting your time here, and I want to get to know you. As soon as you join, I'll know your name — and that's the biggest difference to me, knowing your name versus not knowing your name. Then you can DM me. Then you can give me feedback. Then you can tell me how my videos are impacting your life. Then you can send me a video you've made for me to watch — I almost only watch content from people who are in the Jerry Banfield School, like Blockchain Pill. And I think that's enough of your time.
