Proof Every XRP Hype Channel is Lying

Proof Every XRP Hype Channel is Lying

The lying about XRP is absolutely out of control on YouTube and X. There is nothing verifiably interesting happening with XRP, and I'm going to show you the actual data. Meanwhile, I keep finding videos with hundreds of thousands of views that are probably being pushed out by bots. One video claims that Elon Musk is definitely using XRP. Fortunately, we have AI to go call out these liars today.

Fact-checking the Elon Musk XRP rumor with AI

So I asked Gemini, Google's AI, which knows pretty well what's going on. Not 100%, but it is a source of fact-checking in real time. Google's AI says there is no credible evidence that Elon Musk is holding, using, or investing in XRP. There's a video out there with tens of thousands of views saying Elon Musk is in XRP, and this is what the AI says: there is no credible evidence. Elon has already stated publicly that he has Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. His companies had Bitcoin on their balance sheets. Merchandise can be purchased with Dogecoin. Neither company has ever transacted with XRP. X payments, according to official regulatory filings, show the platform is built on traditional fiat infrastructure. No announcements. These viral rumors are just garbage, and they have been going on for years. People just circulate them over and over again when there is no evidence, the pattern I described in The Evil Side of Crypto YouTube.

Then I watch another video by a blatant liar crypto channel, and I go in and put his video into AI. It's useless. Absolutely useless information. DeFi vault insurance flipping the Bitcoin narrative is absolute garbage at this point. There's no practical reality to that, and I'll show you the metrics to back this up. The takeaway, according to the AI, is that the content offers no unique alpha or groundbreaking development. It simply aggregates existing PR releases and amplifies speculative X posts to justify the sensational title. Absolute garbage that hundreds of thousands of people watch, and that more than likely bots push out. Then XRP holders have confirmation bias and just want to see what they want to hear. That is why I quit this genre entirely, as I explained in I Fired Myself.

You can't handle the truth: go look at XRPScan

If you want to go to XRP, go look at the truth. You can't handle the truth. Go look at XRPScan. Go look at the metrics. The metrics suck for XRP. If you're an XRP holder, this to me would be an absolute deal breaker. The transactions on XRP have gone nowhere at all in the last year. This is a fact that is official. Look, the average transactions have hung around 2 million, with periods dipping all the way down to nearly 1 million over the last one year. XRP in transactions has gone nowhere. That is a hard, undebatable fact, the same story as the critical XRP data most holders never look at.

If you look at the other metrics, active accounts are absolute garbage on XRP. The active accounts have actually gone down on XRP over the last year. And for the gigantic market cap that XRP stands at today, $82 billion, fully diluted $130 billion, XRP's activity has sucked. The price has collapsed. The active accounts are 17,000 out of a $130 billion fully diluted valuation. This is absolutely horrible. This is hard data that you can't argue with.

Not only that, but the payment volume has not gone anywhere in the last year either. The payment volume is pretty stagnant over the last year, with some days having as little as $115 million in total payment volume. Then we go over to XRP burned as fees. Right now we're having a few thousand dollars a day in XRP burned as fees, and it has gone nowhere over the last year. Nothing has changed since XRP $69 Billion of Hype and $360 a Day in Fees. There is nothing I see that is exciting in the actual XRP metrics anywhere at all.

Years of lying and nothing real has happened

Everybody has been lying endlessly about XRP for years. Nothing real has happened with this project. It is insanely disappointing. I wish somebody would do something about the constant lying about XRP and all the people that are getting ripped off buying XRP. The ridiculous price targets that are getting put out there for XRP are based on absolutely no real data. This is why I think XRP and Solana are destroying crypto, and a big reason 90% of crypto retail is in losses.

I used to make XRP hype videos myself

If you appreciate that I would rather tell you the truth that's obvious to me after 12 years in crypto instead of making money lying to you, do you realize how much money I could make lying to you about XRP? I know, because I used to do XRP hype videos, and I saw the bots push my channel whenever I did XRP hype videos based on no substance at all. So I've been on the inside. I've done the XRP hype videos years ago, and nothing has materialized at all that has been meaningful, except the SEC case being won, and that does not get real users or real business. Saying this takes the courage to be disliked in crypto, because in my experience 99% of crypto is theft.

Let's stop the XRP lying channels

So if you appreciate that I care more about telling you the truth, which almost nobody does, but perhaps you're different, then I'm available at jerrybanfield.com. You can go to jerrybanfield.com and have a call with me if you want to talk crypto. I'm extremely accessible. I have 10 minute audio calls. I'll film short videos for you. I can do a detailed review of a coin if you want, or something more detailed, and I have hour long Zoom calls as well. And I live stream on my main Jerry Banfield channel. You can see how other coins hold up against their real data in my Crypto Reviews playlist. Let's stop all these crypto XRP lying channels.

My earlier XRP videos

Every video I have made about XRP is on this one page, newest first, so you can see how the data and my thinking have changed over time. Each one below is the whole post from that video.

XRP $69 Billion of Hype and $360 a Day in Fees

From my video published July 3, 2026.

You are about to experience the most brutal, data-based roast of XRP you have ever seen. And it is because I love you. I want you to be a successful crypto investor. I have held XRP before. I bought into the hype narratives, and now I have seen through them. In my experience, XRP looks absolutely hopeless, and I invite you to have some curiosity, to wonder what I could possibly mean with my title. XRP has this $69 billion valuation and only actually makes $360 a day in chain fees. It is crazy.

I know you are tired of the usual presentation that every single XRP holder gets, the one that promises this will change your life. I hope to pop the bubble of delusion. I want you to know what I believe is the truth. Here is the truth as I see it: $69 billion of hype, and the actual revenue the chain makes is $360 a day in fees. How many of you make $360 a day? By that logic you should be worth $69 billion too. I should be worth billions of dollars as well.

I used to hold this token. I bought into the ISO 20022 hype. I bought into people giving shallow narratives based on almost nothing. Once you see this, you will never be able to unsee it, and you will be grateful I showed you this information. You can confirm all of this. Look it all up yourself. It is easier than ever today.

Here is the truth I believe you can handle. XRP is priced like it is going to become essential global financial plumbing. That is the market cap. But the actual XRP Ledger economic activity is microscopic. I try to throw some laughs in too, because crypto content can be so boring. Let us have some fun while we go through this.

The economic activity is microscopic next to the token's market cap, and Ripple's business grows without forcing XRP demand. In my view this destroys every single XRP hype video. Stablecoins are the cleaner, more institutional option. Ripple's business of putting these stablecoins out can actually sabotage XRP. There is no version of the data, nothing you can spin, to make the current price even reasonable, let alone higher. The only reason the price is anywhere near where it is today is financial engineering, and people having no clue what they are buying while they watch influencers tell them to put $500 in XRP and they will be set for life. In my opinion that is absolutely ridiculous.

Does anyone realize how much XRP Ripple still has to potentially sell into the market? Most XRP holders have never seen even a fraction of this information before. The worst part is that Ripple, the company, can actually win while XRP holders go to zero. Now, I am not neutral at all. I cannot stand all these fake altcoins that, in my view, are tricking you and my friends and my family into putting money into them and then ripping you off. I do this because I love you and I care about you and I want you to have the best information. I would rather tell you the truth than tell you what you want to hear, especially when you do not want to hear it.

The truth about XRP, as I see it, is that even if Ripple and all the hype about Ripple succeeds, please show me where having XRP in your wallet captures any of that value. We are going to look through 14 massive problems. I have been repetitive talking about ICP, and I have a dedicated Jerry Banfield ICP channel, so I am not even going to lean on the bigger elephant in the room, that ICP is likely to make the rest of altcoins irrelevant with its technology. There is so much I can point to on XRP without even doing that. I am an ICP maxi, and this is not financial advice. This is why I do not hold XRP and, in my experience, would never consider it.

Some people say XRP and ICP are both amazing. In my view they are absolute opposites. ICP is the best tech in crypto. It is valued at something like 50 times less than XRP. XRP, to me, is one of the worst junk coins in all of crypto with almost no real value. To think the two are similar is exactly the belief I want to break here. It is insanity, in my opinion, to think XRP is amazing. So you need to know what you are buying.

Three Different Things Share One Narrative

This is the outline of what you can expect. I know how the hype works from the inside. It is mind control, empty promises, and hype that do not stand up to any real research. Know what you are buying. Three different things share one narrative, and this is a problem. Every argument I make here starts from the gap between all these narratives and the truth.

First, if you are holding XRP, you are holding the XRP token. This is a digital asset trading around $69 billion in market cap, with a $111 billion fully diluted valuation. Ripple still has, in my understanding, over $50 billion of the token they can sell. That token overhang and the value of the blockchain together make this, in my opinion, one of the worst situations for crypto retail out of everything. The retail holders hold a token with massive token overhang. This is the opposite of ICP. It is the opposite setup of ICP, completely.

Second, there is XRP the Ledger, or XRPL. The XRP Ledger is a fast, cheap, payments-focused blockchain running since 2012, with a native DEX, issued assets, escrow, and a tiny fee that is burned instead of paid out as validator rewards. It cannot run everything on chain.

Third, there is Ripple, the company. A private fintech company building payments, custody, stablecoins, prime brokerage, treasury, and tokenization products. This is a privately owned US company. This is not XRP the token. These are very different entities, and this is going to become a bigger and bigger problem. We are going to talk about how Ripple's RLUSD is actually, in my view, a huge liability for XRP holders, not a reason for any of this to pump.

How many XRP holders can actually explain the difference between holding the token, having zero equity in Ripple the company, and the XRP Ledger having almost no activity and revenue on it, which is all you can capture with the token?

The Number That Should Make You Nauseous

Here is the worst data point, the one that should make you nauseous if you are an XRP holder. The $69 billion valuation is being priced like it is a major, major thing. The truth is $360 in chain fees a day. If you include fully diluted, which I believe you should, you are talking about hundreds of billions of dollars in valuation against hundreds of thousands of dollars in actual annual revenue. That is far off. There is nothing I have found in crypto this extreme. I made Solana look bad the day before. I said Cardano is dead. This is so much worse than either of those.

The market cap is roughly 526,000 times the chain fees. This is the number serious investors use to judge whether something is anywhere near a real investment, whether it has a real business system. Do you see how far off this is? Only 40,000 active addresses. Only 1.6 million daily transactions. This is the exact opposite of ICP in every single way. To me this is a clear exit sign.

Ideally, that ratio should be 10, maybe a maximum of 100, unless there is some outlier like ICP where the technology could cause fees to blow up. There is, in my view, no scenario where XRP fees blow up. So the math does not work. The fully diluted valuation is around 845,000 times the fees. As soon as you see this, in my opinion, you should feel like you need to get out before other people figure it out. This is extreme danger.

People say XRP is a North Star. It may be a North Star for Ripple, but not for the holders. XRP bulls talk like XRP is essential global liquidity infrastructure. Meanwhile, the ledger is barely doing anything. Regular people who are not holding XRP can see the obvious things like this from a mile away. But once you have drunk the Kool-Aid, you first have to admit, oh, I was wrong, somebody lied to me and I believed it. Then you can forgive yourself. I did the same thing. Some guy sent me an email years ago talking about XRP and ISO 20022, and the price was about the same as it is right now. When I bought XRP four years ago, the price was the same as now. The XRP Ledger data was almost the same. Even though the court case was won, even though four years have passed, it is the same shit, different day.

A Burn You Need a Microscope to See

This burn, you need a microscope to see it, and that is why it is so bad. The XRP documentation shows every transaction destroys a small amount, but it is actually cheaper to do an ICP transaction than an XRP transaction. So this is not the bull's excuse that it is so cheap they are not making revenue. ICP is cheaper than this, and off the top of my head from the day before, I believe Solana is cheaper than this as well. The burn is $360 a day. It only burns a few hundred dollars. Where is the token value going to come from for XRP holders? That is the question you have to sit with. Where exactly is the token value going to come from?

In my opinion, right now it is nothing more than a Ponzi-like dynamic where only people who have no idea about this are buying it. It is going to take only a relatively small share of XRP holders to realize this and dump their whole XRP portfolio. What happens when somebody holding a million dollars in XRP sees this and sells? What happens when somebody with $10 million in XRP sees it and sells all of it? What happens when there is a cascading effect where people accept that this is the truth? These are verifiable on-chain data. Everything else, in my view, is built on numbers that do not add up.

So take this in. I know that when you are holding XRP and you have watched people repeat the same thing over and over, this can be hard to hear. But a lot of the things that have been hardest for me to hear have been the most important. Everybody told me I was an alcoholic and needed to stop drinking. I did not want to hear it when they told me, and I am so glad they did. After everybody told me, I finally did anything to get sober. I try to be the person today who has the courage to tell people what they do not want to hear, because that is often where the biggest opportunities are. If you are holding something you have a sinking feeling about and want someone who will tell you the truth instead of what you want to hear, you can talk with me and we will look at it honestly together, with the decision staying yours.

The Value Capture Problem

Number three is the value capture problem. XRP does not have Solana's inflation disease. It has the opposite condition, and I would argue it is worse. In my experience, many YouTubers are effectively paid promoters or are just doing anything to get views. On YouTube, if you tell people what they want to hear, it is easier to get views. If I just made a video telling you how great XRP was based on shallow points, it would honestly be much easier for me to get views. On top of that, I personally observed what looked like bots. I actually made XRP hype videos three years ago when I had not done my own research, and it looked like a bunch of bots pushed those videos. That is an even worse sign.

The bulls will say there is no inflation, but I do not think that is true, because Ripple is holding something like $50 billion of XRP that gets unlocked and given to them. I would call that inflation. Yes, there is a fixed maximum supply, no block rewards, and no staking rewards, but Ripple has most of it and gets to do whatever they want with it. On the other side, there is no meaningful cash flow to validators, stakeholders, or treasury.

Right now, in my view, there is no incentive to participate in this ecosystem. There is no reason to run a validator. There is no reason to hold the token unless you believe other people will do less research than you and buy it, and that somehow the price goes up, and that somehow more people buy the token than Ripple sells. The network barely pays anyone, barely burns anything, and barely captures any value for holders. If the network does not pay its holders, does not pay its validators, and burns almost nothing, what is the point of holding the token?

Ripple Is Not XRP

Now, this is the big one. Ripple is not XRP. Almost all the promoters put Ripple and XRP together as if they are one entity, as if Ripple succeeding means anything for XRP succeeding. This, I would say, is the number one point you really need to understand. Even if the fantasy scenario comes true, even if trillions of dollars move, I will get into the data, it is still not going to pump the token, because the fees are so small. This is a no-win scenario for holding XRP, in my opinion. There is almost no way you win.

First, Ripple. Ripple raised $500 million in 2025. They have a $40 billion private valuation. They have six business lines. But holding XRP gives you zero equity in Ripple the company. You are totally dependent on Ripple choosing to give value to a blockchain they do not need and do not even have to use. If you hold XRP, you are taking a giant leap of faith that they will bring value to the blockchain, which they have no obligation to do. They do hold a lot of XRP, so they want to give it value, but they can create businesses and operate however they want with no responsibility to the XRP token. Do you see what a huge problem that is?

Ripple could become successful infrastructure. I do not think it will, because the biggest problem we are facing is that the whole internet needs to be rebuilt as it comes under pressure from AI and cybercrime. In my belief, only ICP can do that, and once you build on ICP, there is no reason to use anything else for transactions. So XRP does not even make sense, because our existing system is failing and you do not need XRP to make the existing system better, and if you want to build a better system, you do not need XRP either.

Even the promoters point to RLUSD, but you already have Circle's stablecoin, you already have Tether, and a whole bunch of other stablecoins. There is a ton of competition already. Even if Ripple succeeds with that, how much of that success flows back into increasing the value of your token? Almost none. Someone in the audience said they had $40K in XRP and honestly felt it was worthless, only earning 2% interest from using Flare XRP. In my view you are taking a huge risk with that, because if Flare goes down, you could lose everything, and if anything happens with XRP, you could lose everything. Your risk is multiplied. A 2% interest for being in a much more dangerous situation is, to me, definitely not worth it.

RLUSD: The Product That Competes With the Token

Now let us look at RLUSD, the product that competes with the token. Most promoters will tell you Ripple's stablecoin is here to bring all this value to the token. But look at the details. It is Ripple's own stablecoin designed to hold one US dollar, issued both on the XRP Ledger and on Ethereum. Does anybody see a problem with that? Why would it be on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum? Just think about it. If it is on Ethereum, what they are effectively saying is there is not enough activity on the XRP Ledger to merit keeping it only on the XRP Ledger, so they put it on Ethereum too. Ripple wants to make a profit. The XRP Ledger is there if it makes them money, and they do not need it if it does not. That is a huge problem.

Ripple's payments page says cross-border payments can tokenize fiat in the stablecoin. Last I checked, I am not having a hard time sending cross-border payments with the existing system, and there are already a bunch of other stablecoins. Stablecoins are easier because they carry no price risk. So here is the question: if institutions can use the stablecoin, or other stablecoins, for payments, why would they hold XRP long term? The hypers say they will need to hold it to swap it. But look at the blockchain. None of that is happening. A stablecoin payment is not XRP demand. Stablecoins might be the product-market fit, but what happens if RLUSD does great on Ethereum, or gets mostly used on Ethereum or ICP? Then you do not need XRP and the XRP Ledger anymore. It is a house of cards built on people's ignorance. People outside of crypto are not ignorant about this. And what happens when that ignorance clears up? It is going to be interesting.

The Bridge Asset Math

Now the favorite bull story, told apart from a calculator: payment volume is not market cap. The classic pitch is that XRP is going to settle global payments. Why would XRP settle global payments when there are all these other players trying to do the same thing? XRP cannot do what ICP can do. It does not have the usage Solana has. Clearly, Ripple does not think the XRP Ledger is strong enough on its own to merit keeping its stablecoin only on the XRP Ledger. If they did, they would not put it on Ethereum too.

Even in the scenario the holders describe, where XRP is held as a bridge for a few seconds, the same XRP can be reused a thousand times a day, and the transactions are tiny. You could hold a little bit of XRP, swap it a huge number of times, and there would be hardly any fees from it. Payment volume is not the same as market cap. The market cap is already so gigantic that it does not matter if XRP is held for a couple of seconds as a bridge and swapped back and forth, because any company doing this would hold the bare minimum. As someone pointed out, Canton is trying to do the same thing XRP is, and XLM is trying to do the same thing. There is massive competition and very little utility or differentiation.

The Inventory Math

Nobody in their right mind is going to hold more XRP than the bare minimum they need to swap, because they do not want to take the price risk on XRP either. So here is a little of the inventory math. Even if you send a billion dollars a day in payments with a five-second hold time, you only need about $57,000 in XRP in flight at any moment. Even $100 billion a day, you would only need to hold about $5 million in XRP. Even if you sent a trillion dollars a day, more than all the global card networks, you would only need about $57 million in XRP.

Even if you stretch the hold time to five minutes, you would still only need a few hundred million dollars in XRP, and the market cap is so big that is not even a meaningful purchase. Ripple gets more than that unlocked every month or two. Even if you sent a trillion dollars a day, more than Mastercard and Visa combined, even if XRP became the global payments ledger and you held it for five minutes, which you would not, you would still only need about $3.7 billion. That is a rounding error, less than 5% of the total, and that is not even fully diluted. This ignores all slippage, liquidity buffers, and inventory, and it is still not even close to the present valuation, even at full adoption. And remember, roughly 1 billion XRP unlocks every three months, which is billions of dollars.

Even at full-scale fantasy where XRP dominates, the XRP price does not go up meaningfully. Maybe it goes up a dollar. You get a 2X. Congratulations, you held forever for a 2X. Even the math of fantasyland goes nowhere, and fantasyland is unreasonable right now because of the existing data: $360 a day in fees. Not exactly exciting.

The Supply Overhang

The supply overhang is miserable. For everyone who loves fair-launch coins, this is the opposite of a fair-launch coin. When XRP was created, there were 100 billion tokens created, and 80 billion were given to Ripple. People complain about ICP tokenomics; this will make you beg for ICP tokenomics. Ripple got 80%, and the company is valued at $40 billion. They do not even need all the XRP they have. In my view, this has been a brilliant scheme on their part to print themselves a fortune while doing almost nothing for the world. Unfortunately, that is crypto.

XRP was not mined or staked into existence. 100 billion XRP were created and 80 billion of it, worth $80 billion in today's dollars, went to Ripple. When I first got into XRP, this stuff was nearly worthless, yet somehow they managed to pay everyone to talk about it, because they held 80% of the whole chain. Ripple's own page says that as of April 30, 2026, they still hold 38 billion XRP, which is $38 billion, with $33 billion of it sitting in escrow. This means, in my opinion, the price in almost no practical scenario can pump.

I hate to burst the bubble of people making claims like XRP to $10,000 on their thumbnails, but even XRP getting to $10 is, in my view, so unrealistic it is almost comedic, because that would mean Ripple would be getting roughly $10 billion a month handed to them. This is completely one-sided in favor of Ripple, and it makes no sense to me for crypto retail to be holding this. This has been going on since 2012. It is 14 years later and they still have all these XRP tokens.

The SEC Case

Now let us look at the SEC case, because yes, XRP did pump off Trump winning and the SEC case. But what has happened since then? It is not a clean victory either. The case ended in 2025 with a $125 million fine. The retail exchange side survived, but the institutional side was the problem, the exact category of sales the court flagged. XRP got legal clarity, but not total vindication. If the court sanctioned the institutional side, what does that say about the entire institutional adoption pitch? To me the legal clarity is not a big signal in XRP's favor at this point. The price pump from it has evaporated. All the crypto retail getting in, all the hype and the bots and the lies, and the price is still around a dollar. It has gone nowhere in four years.

Decentralization

If you are in crypto, I would hope you care about decentralization. Bitcoin has proof of work. Ethereum has staking and slashing. The XRP Ledger essentially says, just trust this list of people. It uses a unique node list model, and the servers need high overlap to avoid forks, with the worst case possibly requiring 90% overlap. So how decentralized is a network that depends on nearly everyone trusting the same recommended list of validators? To me, there is no meaningful decentralization in XRP. So it is the opposite of a fair launch, no meaningful decentralization, and absolutely overvalued to an insane degree, with a company producing all the hype that has no obligation to it and is clearly not fully committed to XRP itself either.

It gets worse. Nobody even pays the validators. They do not get block rewards, staking rewards, or fee revenue. Ripple does not want to pay validators because it costs about as much to run an email server. But if validators are unpaid volunteers, who is going to keep doing this? It makes no sense. They hold $33 billion in escrow, but there is not even an APY. If the price does not go up, the only reason to hold XRP is the belief that the price will go up. Based on what I have shown, why would you have any belief that the price will go up? And we are not done. The validator situation is horrible: unpaid volunteers, and no real decentralization in that either.

The Ghost Town Ledger

The Ghost Town Ledger. I have been saying this for years. If you are holding XRP, have you actually looked at the ledger data yourself? Because I have, quite a bit, and this is why I sold. The first time I looked at the XRP Ledger data, while I was actually holding XRP, I thought, this is a ghost town, I need to get out before everyone figures it out.

The XRP token is valued like it is world-changing financial technology. Meanwhile, there is around $38 million in DeFi. The market cap to TVL is roughly 1,792 times off. Compare that to Ethereum, where there is something like $70 billion of TVL and the market cap is maybe two or three times that. On XRP, the market cap is thousands of times the TVL, and there is only a few million dollars of daily DEX volume. Right now the total DEX versus centralized exchange share is about 0.02%. There is almost no DeFi activity on the XRP blockchain.

Almost all the activity with XRP is people buying and selling on centralized exchanges, which mostly do not even create transactions on the XRP blockchain. So almost all XRP activity is off-chain. How are you going to accumulate value on-chain when everybody is just swapping XRP on exchanges? It is primarily a traded asset. The on-chain economy is nearly nonexistent. If people claim XRP is a powerful on-chain liquidity network, why is nobody using it for DeFi? That is another question I do not think any XRP bull has a decent answer to.

Look at this: 1.6 million transactions, $360 in fees. By the way, ICP does several thousand transactions a second, which blows XRP away. And while XRP shows high transaction counts compared to a lot of other ghost chains, a 2020 study found that 94% of XRP Ledger transactions carried no economic value, and I imagine it is similar today, with a decent amount of spam or bots trying to make it look like there is activity. The real question is how many XRP transactions actually carry real economic value. When even the charts look terrible compared to ICP, Solana, and Ethereum, the amount of real value being moved is totally off. Yes, the gas fee is ridiculously small, but ICP's is smaller and so is Solana's. It is cheap but not invisible.

Here is another problem. If you have used XRP off a centralized exchange, you know you have to keep one XRP just sitting there as a reserve. I moved all my XRP to a wallet and could not withdraw all of it. I think the reserve used to be 10 XRP. What kind of setup is this for a regular person, where you have to just sit there holding a reserve? This is the exact kind of friction that keeps normal users away. I remember using that and selling my XRP right after, thinking, what kind of wallet setup is this?

Someone brought up that XRP billion-dollar acquisitions are bullish for the future. But how does that make sense in the context of everything here, and is that Ripple or XRP the token itself? If Ripple is buying something, that is one thing, but that is not the XRP token itself buying it. Meanwhile, holders talk like this is going to get mass adoption, but how many people holding XRP have ever actually sent an XRP transaction? I have sent a number of XRP transactions myself, back a decade ago, when XRP was one of the fastest ways to transfer. I would swap all my crypto to XRP, send it to another exchange, and swap it back to Bitcoin instead of waiting 30 minutes for Bitcoin and paying a higher fee. XRP 10 years ago used to be useful.

No Modern App Stack

Today, hardly anybody holding XRP actually uses the ledger, which is exactly why the data shows what it shows. This gets even worse going into the future, because we now have ICP, where you can build entire apps fully on chain. Meanwhile, XRP is valued like it can do something amazing, but you have to use all this third-party stuff off the blockchain to do almost anything with it. XRP can send payments, for sure. It can send a transaction from one address to another. But on the base layer, you cannot even do smart contracts. There are all these others that can do smart contracts.

Yes, they now have an EVM sidechain, in 2025. Congratulations, 13 years in, you brought on a sidechain that can do smart contracts, but it is connected through Axelar, which I do not love either, which means if anything in between is hacked or any trust point is compromised, holders are exposed. XRP does not have a modern app stack. In my view it is no competition even against Ethereum, which is old and clunky at this point, or Solana, which I called unsustainable the day before. Next to ICP, I believe XRP is utterly irrelevant. If the base layer does not even have smart contracts and has to use a sidechain, that is, to me, very bad.

Someone said XRP holders are like a battered spouse who refuses to leave, and unfortunately that seems to be the mindset. It is, I got into this coin and I just do not want to be wrong, so I will wait until the price goes up so I can sell it and say I was right. But what if it just goes down from here? If you are on the Titanic and you just hit the iceberg, the smart thing to do is grab a lifeboat before they are all gone. If you are stuck holding something mostly because you do not want to admit you were wrong, I know that feeling intimately from my own portfolio and would be glad to talk through it with you so you can get clear on your own conviction.

The crazy thing is I have met people in person like this. I met a guy who said, I put $20 in XRP and I am really looking forward to it being my down payment on a mortgage someday. I was baffled. He said he saw a video on YouTube saying it could be $10,000 someday, so someday he is going to have tens of thousands of dollars for a down payment on a house. He bought back when it was around $2, so he has lost money on it. He put in $20, got about 10 XRP, and today he has about $10. I told him, for XRP to be worth that, it would have to be worth more than all the wealth in the entire world, and the odds of that are effectively zero.

Here is the thing. You could have had the same experience with ICP, but with ICP, in my belief, everything points to a massive potential explosion at some point based on the technology. With XRP, I do not see any indication that it is anything but an overvalued blockchain that, in my opinion, has no future, which is why I am doing this. Someone noted it is weird how popular XRP is. Exactly. In my view it is just marketing and paying people.

The Institutional Roadmap

Now look at the institutional roadmap for XRP. You watch videos about compliance rails, but wait a second, these are not your rails. Institutions may love a chain that supports compliance, but where exactly does XRP upside come from in that world? These features make part of the ecosystem look compliant, but it is not permissionless, and they apply to issued tokens rather than native XRP. They shape a story. The less obvious question is why the retail token has any value in this scenario. These things could be useful if they actually get adopted, but that does not mean value flows to the XRP token, as I have already demonstrated.

ICP, in my view, can do everything better than XRP, and I have not even factored that into this analysis. ICP can build the entire infrastructure, the entire web stack, all on ICP. It already has built-in trusted credentials and every single thing you could want. Ripple is hyping the idea that value will somehow accrue to the XRP token. ICP can do all of that better.

The Partnership Flex

All the things signaled in hype videos are not real XRP demand, including the partnership flex. At this point, honestly, if you give me a million dollars, I will probably partner with you too, but that does not mean we are going to do anything useful. A lot of companies and people will take money to talk about partnerships when they have no intention of any substance. Picture your company. Ripple comes and says, we will give you $100 million, announce a partnership, and do a little planning meeting about building something. The company says sure, takes the money, somebody probably gets a kickback, and they announce a partnership. Then what? Announcing a partnership is one thing. Actually doing something meaningful with it is another.

So in almost every case, in my opinion, these partnerships across all of crypto are meaningless, because they are just based on paying the company to announce a partnership so that crypto retail and financial engineering push the price higher. Then people anchor to that new higher price and buy without thinking. Then the insiders start dumping. As soon as the price goes up, they start selling to take profits. And again, these are Ripple partnerships. Ripple is a private company, not XRP, not the XRP Ledger. Their partnerships may bring value to their equity, but in most cases not at all to XRP.

Then there is the ETF mirage. Is it true Ripple has 14% of SWIFT liquidity? I do not know. Based on the data I see, it is certainly not showing up on the XRP Ledger, and even if it is, it is not generating any significant amount of XRP fees. These figures get thrown around. Do you realize anybody can put up any kind of XRP video and say whatever they want about it, generally with no consequences? The main consequence is that if you upset an entity like Ripple, which has a huge legal team, they could come at you. That is why, in my view, people are not going after XRP like this. There are actually more consequences for telling the truth than for telling people what they want to hear.

The whole system is set up to reward people who say anything to get views and validate your confirmation bias, and to punish those who might upset a well-funded entity, without any requirement that it be fair or have legal merit. Crypto is set up so poorly that telling the truth is often dangerous and nobody wants to hear it, while lying to you is rewarded. To me that is more a function of capitalism we will eventually have to fix.

So the partnership flexes and the ETF mirage are shallow hype narratives. Who is going to buy XRP through an ETF and put their money in without doing this research? You can certainly have some ignorant crypto retail do that, but generally, the more money people have, the more they research. If you have coins and you want to know the truth about them, ask me, and I will be happy to share my honest take. You get direct access to me, and you can book a call with me to go through them.

I have seen people show me tens of thousands of dollars of XRP in their portfolios who then sold it. They said, yeah, this is pretty fucked, I hear you, I am going to sell this. The ones I am thinking of sold at around $2 to $2.50 and moved into ICP or Bitcoin. I do not give financial advice; I lead by example. The idea that people are going to plow huge amounts into ETFs, ETPs, futures, and retirement platforms without doing any research, I hope does not happen. It can happen, but keep in mind there will be a lot of other options besides XRP, like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and ICP. XRP is not going to be sitting there by itself.

The more money people have to invest, the more they tend to be careful and look things up, unlike people investing smaller amounts hoping for 100X. Ironically, you would think someone who can barely afford $100 would research everything and very carefully deploy it, but it is often the opposite. The people who have more money tend to do much more research and are less likely to be fooled into these ETFs and ETPs. Yes, people plowed money into Bitcoin ETFs, but Bitcoin has branding and is the dominant crypto. Most people in crypto do not really know much about XRP.

If people do any research, it is going to look horrible, because the hype videos are so obviously shallow that the average person who is not vulnerable to that can pick up on it. So all these partnerships and ETFs, all the XRP hype, are not real, sustainable, definite XRP demand. And even if it is a significant amount, you would need to buy billions and billions of dollars just to move the price a little. Exchanges can now financially engineer this with derivatives, so if you pair a narrative with derivatives and financial engineering, you can get the XRP price to shoot from 50 cents to $2.50. But that is hard to sustain over time, which is why the XRP price has plummeted and lost almost everything it gained over the last four years and gone nowhere.

If you want the truth, which announcement in the history of XRP has actually moved on-chain economics instead of just moving the price? In my view, zero. There are zero announcements that ever actually moved the on-chain economy rather than the price. If you made good money on XRP, you can say thank you for that, because other people lost money for you to make it. Or maybe Ripple bought it off of you at $2, which seems unlikely. At this point, if you are selling XRP, you are selling to someone less clued in than you are, and that is kind of sad. These coins are sad and pathetic to me, which is why I do not hold any of them. It makes me angry to see my fellow brothers and sisters getting sold XRP and buying it while every effort is made to defend the ignorance around it.

The Real World Asset Story

Let us continue. The real world asset story: XRP is hilariously under-engaged. In my opinion, the real world asset story cannot carry a $69 billion valuation, and that is not even fully diluted. Right now you have, in theory, a little less than a billion dollars in XRPL stablecoins, and 94% of that is RLUSD. But keep in mind, this is a fraction of the amount on Ethereum. Ethereum has something like 70 times as much value locked in stablecoins, liquid staking, and everything else, yet it only has maybe two or three times as much fully diluted value as XRP. Do you see how far off these metrics are?

Meanwhile, the real world asset all-time high on XRP is $281 million, but the valuation is in the billions. Again, this is off by a huge magnitude. A billion dollars in stablecoins, in the world of finance that XRP and Ripple claim to be in, is a tiny amount, barely worth mentioning. Look at how much Circle and Tether have in stablecoins. Ripple is trying to compete in that world, and the XRP Ledger is not even capturing all of that directly on XRP. Even if the stablecoins and tokenized assets go awesome, which I think is unlikely, the XRP price is still not likely to move.

The Whole Argument, Summarized

Now we are almost there. I have tried to make a comprehensive breakdown of XRP so I never need to cover it again. Here is the whole argument. XRP is a $69 billion asset right now, and $111 billion fully diluted, attached to a ledger burning hundreds of dollars a day in fees. This is off by a factor of hundreds of thousands of times. The difference should only be 10, maybe 100 times at most. XRP, to me, looks at least 100 times overvalued, if not 1,000 times. If I were appraising this, I would say XRP is between 500 and 1,000 times overvalued. That means I would imagine a high likelihood of losses of 90-plus percent on XRP. In my belief, 10 cents is much more likely than $10. One cent is more likely than even $20 or $30. This has a huge bear case and an extremely limited upside. It is too big already, and there is nothing to merit how big it currently is.

I say the fantasy multiple on XRP is at least a thousand times overvalued against the chain fees. Even if XRP goes down 99%, to me it is still overvalued, because even then the fees would still be about 5,000 times the valuation. To me there is no way this survives outside of complete and utter ignorance by everyone holding XRP. Even 10% of XRP holders digging into some of this, because they are burned out on the price dumping and wondering what is going on, starting to use AI to look up basic facts about why XRP struggles, will find these numbers and think, I am out. That is what I did. I sold my XRP in 2023. I am out, and I am never coming back.

If you were appraising this, how much would you pay if you stripped it down and pretended XRP was a company? How much would you pay for a company earning about $131,000 a year in revenue with no dividend, no buyback, and no claim on Ripple? In an optimistic scenario, if you were trying to sell something like this to someone else, you would be lucky to get a million or a couple million dollars for it. Meanwhile, it is valued at a hundred and some billion fully diluted.

So here are the questions every XRP answer struggles with. If XRPL burns hundreds of dollars a day in fees, where is the value going to XRP holders? If Ripple Payments use stablecoins and largely bypass XRP, running on chains like Ethereum that do not require XRP at all, where is the value going to XRP? If XRP is just a bridge asset for seconds, why does even the theoretical massive payment volume require this big of a market cap? These questions, in my view, destroy every fantasy about XRP having any realistic valuation right now. Why should retail accept a token where 80 billion XRP was gifted to the company? How is this going to survive with unpaid validators? Where is any real decentralization? Where is the DeFi? For a chain supposedly about financial plumbing, where are all the DEXs?

If RLUSD is institutional payment, is XRP not becoming less and less necessary over time? If you cannot even do smart contracts without an EVM sidechain, come on. This is, in my opinion, too easy. I said this at the beginning: I held this. I bought into this. I remember buying $1,000 of XRP after getting an email from some love-and-light spiritual person who did not know much about crypto, and at the time I was eight years into crypto and making crypto videos. If I am any indication of the future, and if AI is any indication of the future, people in crypto are going to get smarter. They are going to see through this and sell when they realize it.

I know, because I have been there. I have been the person who bought XRP, and I found a way out. You know the way out? Admitting I was wrong. Admitting I did poor research. Admitting the business model looks unsustainable. Admitting that when I look at the actual stats, none of the hype matches the actual data. And looking in the mirror and saying, I was wrong about XRP, let me sell it while I still can. I did this research originally because I wanted to know if what I was holding had any value. So I have been an XRP holder. I know what it is like. And that is why, to me, there are no escape hatches for this. In my belief, this goes to zero or down 99% in the overwhelming majority of scenarios. It is one of the riskiest coins for a collapse in all of crypto. To me it is purely a cult coin with no value behind the cult; you do not even get anything for holding it.

Where is the escape hatch for XRP? The truth is up against the hype, and I believe the truth is going to win. Everything that keeps happening accelerates it. As AI accelerates, in my view XRP becomes more irrelevant. As cybercrime accelerates, it becomes more relevant to rebuild the internet on something like ICP, and XRP becomes more irrelevant. As ICP gains adoption, XRP becomes more irrelevant. Even in the best-case scenarios, XRP has almost no upside. The best you are likely to get is another heavily financially engineered pump that, at the absolute best case, takes it to $2 or $3, and then it loses all of that again. That is the last gasp, and it may not even happen. I would never hold a coin where my best-case scenario is a 2X or 3X and I have to watch every day to make sure I do not miss it. I hold ICP because I believe it could easily be 100-plus X. In my view, XRP in no realistic scenario is even a 20X, let alone 100X, and in the vast majority of scenarios you are never going to even see a 10X. It is too big already. So I do not see where XRP has any kind of future with any kind of hope.

The Smartest Position Is Willingness to Change Your Mind

The smartest position is being willing to change your mind when you realize how hopeless a situation is. Like the last day I drank and was hungover in bed, I realized how hopeless my situation was, and I became willing to do anything to get out of it. Getting sober and going to AA took a lot of effort. Getting out of XRP is simple by comparison.

Let me show you how simple it is. You open your Coinbase app. I do not hold any XRP, but I will walk through the exact clicks. You tap XRP, you tap sell, and you take whatever the market gives you. Notice I am not giving you financial advice here. You swipe over, put all of it in, tap preview sell order, tap sell, and now you have the dollars in your account. Someone said never sell low. But in my view, if you are in a position that is hopeless, you take what you can get. If it were me, and this is not financial advice, I would sell all of it today, because the price could be one cent in the future. Would you rather sell at a dollar or at one cent?

Consider this dynamic too: a lot of people are not selling XRP today because they plan to exit the moment it ever hits $2 again. So it can barely go up, because most of the people holding it do not really believe in it anymore and are ready to exit immediately.

The Critical XRP Data Most Holders Never Look At

From my video published June 17, 2026.

A couple of years ago, I held XRP until I saw the information I'm about to show you today. This is a very serious post for XRP holders, because I want to walk through the facts, F-A-C-T-S, facts that you need to look at. Anyone can do this research, and everything I'm showing you is publicly available. All the XRP hype videos never mention this, and you can verify it for yourself in about five minutes.

So let's start with the price right now. As I'm writing this, it's at all-time highs, which in my experience is probably a good time to take profits. Now, some of you I've talked to think that XRP is Ripple flipping the switch, that the whole financial system is about to start shooting its load in XRP across the globe. I believe that's wrong. Show me any evidence of that. I went through all the XRP hype and speculation videos, and as far as I can tell everybody is literally just talking and making stuff up. When I bought XRP a couple of years ago, I bought into that exact narrative, because that's what they were doing then too. They're still using the same narratives, and they just keep pushing the timelines back and back.

Look at the ledger data yourself

Let me show you the research I think you need to do yourself to look at the truth. Go look at the xrpscan.com data. This will show you how much the ledger itself is actually getting used. Click on metrics on xrpscan.com. Now look at the number of payments from one account to another. You can see how a year ago they were a lot higher than they are today. Look at today, when the price is $3, when there's all kinds of hype, when supposedly they're flipping the switch and it's going off. A year ago, the payments were higher. I'd say that's a bad sign, but it gets worse.

Click on "all." Yes, there was a spike about a year ago, but it was temporary. What you'll notice is a shockingly small amount of growth on this ledger. A shockingly small amount of growth. For most of 2024, there are barely a few hundred thousand payments a day across most of this ledger. And if you look at the all-time view, the payments where they are today are not that much higher than they were years ago.

And that's just the payment count. If you scroll down, you can look at the payment volume from one account to another, and there is literally no increase at all in payment volume over the last year. None. It's flat, absolutely flat. That's bad if you're trying to argue this is some amazing thing that's blowing up.

Now, you have had some hype recently around the number of active accounts sending payments. But look at the whole history of this thing, which unfortunately only goes back to 2022 here. You can see that for years, the actual number of payments and active accounts has been going down. There's always a spike whenever there's a temporary, manipulated pump, which to me looks like Ripple buying a bunch of the token all at once to push the price, or a court case win, or something like that. But then it dies off. Whatever everybody is hyping about doesn't materialize. Right before all this artificial, manipulated hype got going, the fact is the growth was going down, down, down. There was nothing happening in the background. It was dwindling away. And then you get a manipulated price pump.

The bots are real

People change money around and make stuff up. In my experience, XRP uses bots. Someone holding XRP pushes videos with bots, and I have proof of that, because I made a video two years ago hyping XRP, and I have never seen as many bots push one of my videos. I would guarantee you the same thing is still happening today. What the data indicates is that nothing much has actually happened. This is an old blockchain, and the growth is terrible.

If you look back, the fees now are very comparable to years ago. The number of transactions executed has not gone anywhere in a year. Look at the number of new accounts activated. Yes, recently there's been some new accounts activated, but look at the whole year: you're lucky to get a thousand new accounts a day. Things do not change overnight. If you look at the data, the data looks horrible for XRP. But it gets worse.

The developer numbers are damning

Let me give you an example. One of the recent XRP pumper videos cited a tweet where XRP was listed as a "zombie chain" by Forbes. The guy commented on there saying they're bringing thousands and thousands of new developers to the XRP ledger. Where is the proof of that? Let's go check the data.

First, let's compare it to Internet Computer Protocol. Here's the blockchain ranking sorted by fee growth between the first and second half of 2024, so six months of 2024. Internet Computer is up 37 times. Where's XRP on this list? Do you see XRP at all in fee growth? No. Stellar is up there with comparable growth to Solana, but XRP is not on this list at all.

If you want to look behind the scenes of that guy's tweet, look at the top developer ecosystems from the Electric Capital report, which is the most respected developer report in crypto. Right now, the top three ecosystems are Ethereum and Solana by continent, but ICP sneaks up there in Africa, despite the work Cardano supposedly did. XRP, despite having a market cap close to Solana, is not a top-three ecosystem on any continent right now. But it gets worse than that.

If you look at who grew the fastest by full-time developers, Internet Computer is up 62%, only behind EigenLayer, which is tiny and which I haven't even heard much about. Is XRP on that list? No. But it gets even worse. In the developer capital report, while Solana is mentioned as number one for new developers relative to market cap, Internet Computer Protocol actually got the most new developers per market cap. How many more did it get than XRP per market cap? I made a little slide showing this in my XRP presentation. First, the raw data: 178 new developers on XRP in 2024.

I've come to believe that those of you who are into XRP are in an absolute delusion if you think it's just going to blow up overnight when it hasn't done that in a decade. Yes, it's had bull runs like some of these other cryptos, where it pumped from 25 cents to $3, but notice it took almost eight years, seven or eight years, to get back to its all-time price in US dollars. And the price of Bitcoin was much lower back then, so XRP hasn't even gotten close to its all-time high when measured in Bitcoin.

If you compare by market cap, XRP is close to Solana. But Solana got roughly a hundred times as many developers as XRP per market cap, and Solana sits a bit lower than Internet Computer. When I ran the numbers, Internet Computer got 500 times as many new developers compared to its market cap. XRP, per billion dollars of market cap, got less than one new developer. That is horrible. To me that clearly means no one is building on this. Solana got around 7,000 new developers, and it had a lower market cap when I calculated that than it does today. XRP got 178. Come on. That's like 40 or 50 times fewer. Solana got 40 or 50 times as many new developers as XRP. That is horrible.

Real-time transactions barely register

It continues to get worse. Go look at the fastest blockchains by transactions. Solana is close to XRP in market cap, but it's second to ICP in real-time transactions. Then scroll down. Where's XRP on this list? Where's XRP in real-time transactions on the network? Scroll down to 50. Is it even on here? Did I scroll past it? XRP, where is it? It's hardly doing anything. You've got Stellar up there at 121 transactions a second, along with Polygon, Ethereum, Hedera, Bitcoin, MultiversX. XRP's transactions are so non-existent that it doesn't even look like they've added it on ChainSpect. That's how irrelevant XRP is in the crypto world in terms of real people using the chain.

Now, in terms of bots pushing videos, narratives, and people getting paid off to say things that don't materialize, yeah, XRP is doing great. But the fact is, if you look at the data, the XRP ledger metrics look horrible. For all the recent price hype we've seen, you're telling me the payments are lower? The fact is the payments are lower. Today, with all the hype, all the videos, all the lying, all the speculation, the fact is the payments are lower than they were a year ago, and the growth is non-existent, except for some people hearing about XRP and signing up for some new accounts in relatively small amounts.

What I believe you need to know

So this is critical XRP information I think you need to know, because so many of you have only two altcoins in your portfolio, XRP and ICP, and I want you to look honestly at the difference. Yes, in the short term, the XRP price did pump. In my opinion, now is the time to exit. And finally, look at the fully diluted market cap. XRP has one of the largest token holdings out there, and Ripple still has over $100 billion to potentially dump on all the people buying this. In my view, it's an absolutely horrible, one-star, terrible crypto investment. If you want to see how I think through crypto and other money decisions, you can browse my Crypto Reviews playlist, and remember that none of this is financial advice, just my own experience and beliefs.

Dear XRP Holders: What Nobody Is Telling You

From my video published June 17, 2026.

If you're an XRP holder, I want you to see this message, because I love you and I want you to be successful with your crypto investing. I don't want you to get ripped off or lose money. I've been in crypto for 11 years. I've held XRP a bunch of different times. I've researched thousands and thousands of altcoins. And there's something you really need to know about XRP that almost nobody else is talking about.

First off, I'm not a financial advisor and this is not financial advice. This is educational and, I hope, entertaining material for you to digest and think about. Don't take any immediate action. And know that I hold over 10,000 ICP, or Internet Computer Protocol, so that will clearly influence what I have to say.

Why I'm skeptical of XRP's market cap

That said, when I look at XRP today, the reality I see is that this is one of the highest market cap cryptocurrencies. And what I've seen in the past is that the best money is not usually made in the highest market cap cryptocurrencies, unless you go back a decade plus and get into Bitcoin like I did. The money is usually made in the smaller coins before they get big. So there's an opportunity cost.

The biggest thing I see right now came out of the XRP hype videos I watched before making this. One of them said something that, to me, is the absolute most important thing you need to be thinking about. They said the number one threat they saw to XRP would be if someone came out with technology so good that it made XRP irrelevant. And they said they weren't aware of anything, that the coast seemed clear, and that XRP was going to be dominant in a new financial system.

The technology that already exists

But what happens when you research Internet Computer Protocol and you realize the technology that XRP hype video host claimed doesn't exist is already out there? In my view, it does way more transactions, way faster, way cheaper than XRP does. And it does something nothing else in crypto does: you can put the entire blockchain, your whole tech stack, fully on chain. That means your website, your database, AI, crypto games, any kind of game. The Internet Computer Protocol solves massive real-world problems with cybercrime by putting everything on a blockchain.

Right now, the reality as I see it is that almost all XRP transactions happen through centralized third parties. They don't even happen on the blockchain. To me, investing in XRP seems similar to just investing in a bank, or in some centralized entity like a government. Because if you look at the actual XRP transactions, I don't see that there's been much growth looking at the XRP scan metrics. In the last year, despite all the hype and all the marketing, the real transactions on the blockchain are not up that much, not compared to something like Solana or like Internet Computer Protocol.

If you look at the actual number of new developers building with XRP, according to Electric Capital's report, it was way less than Internet Computer Protocol, which has a market cap almost 100 times smaller than XRP. These are serious concerns that I, as someone who has held XRP, would want to know, but almost nobody hyping XRP wants to tell you this.

Tokenomics and insiders

I also see that XRP has a shocking amount still held by insiders. According to the CoinMarketCap website, about $90 billion, with a B, is still held by insiders. In my opinion, that makes this the absolute worst tokenomics I see in the top 10 cryptos, by far. Nothing else is even close to as bad. After over a decade out, you still have insiders holding such a large percentage of it.

What's even crazier is that if you look at XLM, which is a fork of XRP, they actually have more transactions than XRP. I'm going to cover XLM in another video, and I'm not bullish on it either. But if you have somebody who copied the technology and they're getting more transactions while their market cap is a tiny fraction of XRP's, then I'm extremely skeptical of everything I've seen with XRP.

If you love banks, buy a bank

The more I see what ICP's tech can do, and the more I look at whether XRP is actually delivering a new financial system, the less convinced I am. What I see is that the narrative around XRP is that banks are going to use it to send transactions to each other. My thought is, if you love banks, then why wouldn't you just buy a bank stock? Buying XRP doesn't give you ownership over anything except the XRP tokens. It doesn't give you ownership over a bank. It doesn't give you any control over the XRP blockchain. From what I see, you don't get governance from holding XRP.

XRP also does not appear, from what I see, to have meaningful decentralization at this point. You can debate me on that, and you can do your own research, but critics often point out that it doesn't look very decentralized. To me that doesn't even matter, because what can you actually do with the XRP blockchain without going through a third party, without downloading something? Even if you download an official Ripple wallet for XRP, you're still then on their tech. You can't go straight into the blockchain, because XRP can't serve websites. It can't have a database of things like pictures and videos and NFTs that are fully on the blockchain. You have to put all that stuff off chain, which in my opinion eliminates any decentralization that is meaningful.

The $10,000 math doesn't work

I have talked to people in person who are holding XRP and absolutely can't stand to hear what I have to say, because from what I've seen, all they watch are XRP hype videos. I've watched those videos too, and all they do is talk about price. People say XRP could go to $10,000, and that is almost impossible based on simple math. There's only a few hundred trillion dollars of wealth in the whole world, maybe 1,000 to 1,600 trillion. So if XRP were to 5,000X, or even 1,000X, it would be worth more than all the real estate in the whole world combined, which is ridiculous. And yet 1,000X for XRP wouldn't even get it 20% of the way to $10,000.

I talked to a guy in person who said, "Jerry, I'm holding 20 XRP, and this is going to help me buy a house down the road." I said, "How is 20 XRP going to help you buy a house?" He said, "When it goes to $10,000." And I thought, oh my God, have you not used a calculator and looked at how impossible that is? That would require XRP's market cap to be $1,000 trillion right now. Do you understand how much money that is? That's almost all the wealth in the world combined. It's ridiculous.

And what can the actual technology do? It can send transactions. That's what it can do. XLM can send transactions. Bitcoin can send transactions. Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and probably 500 other layer ones can send transactions. So when you search for the positives about XRP tech, it's all about how banks are going to use this to send money to each other. What does it matter what banks use to send money to each other? Just think about it. What difference does it make whether they use SWIFT or some other system? If you want to believe that banks sending money to each other more efficiently is good for them, then to me I'd buy bank stocks if that was my angle. But if we're going to have a new financial system, it has to cut out third parties. I don't see why I would invest in something based on third parties doing more efficient transactions with each other.

Why I'm all in on Internet Computer Protocol

That's why I'm all in on Internet Computer Protocol. It's the only technology I see in the world that can truly cut out the middleman, where you can go straight to an Internet Computer blockchain totally for free. I can send you crypto without you going through a crypto exchange. You don't have to KYC. You don't have to get a third-party wallet like a Ledger or a Trezor to hold your crypto for you. With XRP, I have 10 XRP still stuck in a wallet today, because it wouldn't let me have an account and transact without keeping that minimum in there. From what I can see, that's not a sustainable business model.

So everything I see about XRP, except the marketing and the cult aspect, the "my identity," the narratives, those look great, and they're being pushed all over the place.

What I learned about the hype machine

This is also my own experience. I did an XRP hype video two years ago, before I understood Internet Computer Protocol, and it looked like bots pushed my channel. When I did that XRP video, it looked like bots came in and pushed it really hard. I've uploaded thousands and thousands of YouTube videos, so at this point I can generally tell intuitively when my video is getting hit with bots versus my regular viewers versus new people finding it through search or organic sharing.

What I can say is that I did a video saying XRP was going to go to $12. It was a four minute video with no substance at all, purely repeating things I'd heard somewhere else. And the bots appeared to push that video straight up to number one in search results. So when you searched for XRP that day, you found my video saying XRP would go to $12. At the time, XRP was at just 30 or 40 cents, and I said it would go to $12, again with no substance and no real research, just a quick look at a few things. Anyone searching for XRP within that 12-hour window found my video, and many of them probably already held XRP.

When I do videos criticizing XRP, those don't get pushed by bots. So if what's happening on my channel is happening to other channels, then most of the information about XRP is potentially being pushed by bots. I can't prove that, but that's what it looks like to me.

My bottom line on XRP

To me, XRP looks like an extremely dangerous investment. It looks like a very high risk of loss or low gains, and very low odds of getting any strong gains. That pump from 50 cents to $3, you missed it. I was holding XRP, not at that time, but I had thousands of XRP when it was 30 cents. I sold all of it for ICP. In the short term, I've lost on that. But in the long term, I believe I'm going to win huge. And I also invest based on my values.

To me, XRP looks mostly like hype and a cult coin, with technology that is pretty irrelevant compared to the leader, Internet Computer, and even compared to many of these other blockchains today, including XLM, which is a copy that has more adoption. I don't see any reason I would hold XRP today.

So, again, this was not financial advice. I'm sharing my own research and my own decisions. This is just information for you to digest and think about. Because if you're really committed to something, you should be able to, and you should even be curious to, hear the criticism. When you hear the criticism, then you're in a good position to have a well-rounded opinion. I'm aware of all the criticisms of Internet Computer Protocol. I've even come up with ones nobody else has talked about before. And these are the ones I see for XRP that really matter. If you want to go deeper on how I think about all of this, you can explore my Crypto Reviews playlist. I've talked to a lot of people who've sold their XRP into ICP, or back into their bank account, and they've been grateful they took the time to think it through.

Why I Think XRP and Solana Are Destroying Crypto

From my video published June 17, 2026.

XRP and Solana are absolutely destroying crypto today, and in my opinion they're much worse than you might even think. To me they sit at opposite ends of the exact same thing that's wrong with crypto. Before I get into them, let's talk about what's right with crypto so we have something to contrast them against.

What's right with crypto is making a peer-to-peer currency that you and I can use to exchange value while cutting out the middleman. That's why I got into Bitcoin in 2014. It was so exciting that you and I could transact without some government, bank, or centralized entity getting between us, and that we could use it worldwide. Then you've got the Internet Computer Protocol, which in my view has the best technology in crypto. You can run entire websites fully on-chain. You can have an entire community, like my OpenChat community, where people post and I do giveaways. That is incredible technology. And then you have XRP and Solana.

XRP: a decade old with almost no real adoption

Let's start with XRP. XRP has a roughly $136 billion market cap, and despite being almost as old as Bitcoin, with the chart on CoinMarketCap going back to 2013, it still has around $100 billion left in token unlocks. It just reached its all-time high in US dollars that it previously hit back in 2017. But it gets worse than that.

If you look at the actual XRP ledger on XRP Scan, in my experience all the XRP hype is blatantly fraudulent. They use bots to push their videos. I have firsthand proof of this. When I made an XRP hype video two years ago, bots pushed my video so hard and got it out there to all these people. That's what's happening across the board. Many of these XRP videos are only being seen because of bots, and then people are getting tricked by those bots into buying XRP.

If you look at the actual data on the XRP ledger, you'll see the number of payments from one account to another has gone nowhere in a year. The payment volume and almost all the metrics have stalled. Active accounts have ticked up a bit recently with all the XRP hype, but XRP burned as fees, which is one of the best metrics you could look at, has gone nowhere with hardly any growth in the last year. Fees are one of the hardest metrics to fake because they're expensive.

The reality of the chain is that it's over a decade old and almost nothing has kicked in like a network effect. It's just this huge valuation crypto that pays people to talk about it, that pays to be in positions like being considered for part of Trump's crypto team. They pay and push bots, but I don't see them adding any real value to the world. This is a centralized entity, Ripple, holding a bunch of this XRP, and there's a company with a stock behind it too. So there's almost nothing meaningfully decentralized about it, and in my view it offers no meaningful value to the world.

And yet this is one of the top cryptocurrencies, one that has sucked hundreds of billions of dollars of retail money into it instead of into real technology that can actually make a difference, like ICP. By comparison, XRP has a market cap more than 630 times larger than ICP. All these people hype up XRP, but how many of them have ever even used the blockchain? If you've bought XRP on an exchange, you more than likely have never actually created a transaction on the XRP blockchain, which would explain these metrics. When you've got people just trading on centralized accounts, the money is all sitting in those accounts and doesn't actually move on-chain, which perfectly explains the metrics we're seeing.

That's XRP: a crypto that's over a decade old with almost no real adoption, that's almost all hype, and that has tricked people into throwing money into something I consider fundamentally worthless. The hype videos repeatedly say the same things they did years ago, and almost none of it has come to pass.

Solana: meme coins, bots, and a second rug pull

Then we move on to Solana. This was a project pushed by the FTX team, the criminals behind FTX who were lying, cheating, and stealing, doing all kinds of things with crypto investors' money. Solana was the coin they pushed to line their pockets, and they already rug pulled investors on it once when FTX crashed. It blew up, then rugged everybody down to $10, and now it's blown up again. The FTX bankruptcy estate has a bunch of it that it needs to dump, so they need the price high.

Solana is another example, on the opposite end from XRP, of what's destroying crypto. In my view it's not decentralized at all. There's hardly any transparency as to who's actually behind the team. And what are people actually doing on Solana? Mostly trading meme coins. Solana is absolutely infested with bots. I'd estimate probably 95 percent or more of the traffic on Solana is bots, just swapping meme coins automatically. People copy trading, people paying to send one influencer money to push some meme coin, a whole bunch of people investing in absolute garbage, useless currencies like Trump coin. To me this adds no value to the world. It purely extracts value from naive crypto investors, and it's gotten to be one of the top coins on the market today. That was just another meme coin pumped on Solana. Almost everyone who bought it has already lost money, and there's 80 percent of the token still left to dump.

The worst part is all the money that's flowed into all these other coins created on Solana. You've got all these people who are now stuck in confirmation bias and don't even realize that, in the simplest terms, the technology behind Solana is basically a copy of Ethereum. They changed a few things, and then almost everything you're using that you think is on Solana is actually built back on big tech. The websites, the databases, everything except the actual token transactions is built on big tech, and the Solana blockchain itself is hardly doing anything. If you go to some of the Solana explorers, they artificially inflate their TPS with a bunch of vote transactions.

All the Solana shillers will tell you how great it is because of how much TVL and how many active users it has, but we know those things are very easy to fake. Plus Solana's market cap is so high right now that it's right about the same level it was at when it got rug pulled before. To me, there's no real value here.

Meme coins are everything I hate about crypto

I saw someone in the chat say someone they know made $1,000 profit with $500. Here's the thing about everyone trading meme coins, and I've posted this on X: you're just ripping each other off. You're playing a game of musical chairs with money, where the last person who is a fool holding on loses everything, and the person who does the least research and makes the poorest decisions gets ripped off the most. Meme coin trading is everything I hate about crypto.

I got into crypto to try to support technology that could give us a better financial system than you and I having to go through governments and banks, which have almost no accountability for what they do with our money. They fund wars and all kinds of destruction, and we're almost powerless to do much about it. Not totally, but it's difficult. And yet with people trading all these Solana meme coins, I could actually argue that government currencies are better than XRP and Solana, because at least there are some people who are accountable for what's happening in government currencies, and at least there are some rules and regulations in place.

In my opinion, Solana and XRP are two of the absolute worst cheaters, liars, thieves, and manipulators in crypto, and that's why there's so little transparency about who's behind these projects beyond the few people who are the public face. XRP had only a few hundred new developers for the entire year last year, which is terrible. And the only reason almost anyone built on Solana is, one, they didn't know there was any better option available technologically. Most people, once they find ICP and build on it, say "wow, this is way better, I'm never building anywhere else." And two, Solana paid so many people to integrate its tech. It's a flywheel, and I believe it's all going to come crashing down again. In the meantime it has sucked massive amounts of money out of investing in real innovation and technology that actually makes the world a better place. If you want to go deeper on how I think about all of this, I share more in my Crypto Reviews playlist.

XRP (Ripple) Crypto Review: Why I Think It's Going to Zero

From my video published June 12, 2024.

XRP is one of my least favorite cryptocurrencies. I think it's one of the most overvalued, overhyped, and dramatically over-speculated coins in the entire market. The technology does not impress me at all. So I want to walk through why, in my opinion, XRP is going to zero. It has practically been a stablecoin recently anyway. If you look at the last year, the price on XRP is the same as it was a year ago. By comparison, Solana has done a 10X in the last year, although it crashed really hard before it managed that. Internet Computer has gone up roughly 4X on its price in the last year. Bitcoin has gone up around 4X or so, maybe a little less. XRP has done absolutely nothing except pump and dump. And to me this looks like purely manipulated pumps followed by immediate dumps.

The court-case pump and dump

It was a massive disappointment to watch what happened when Ripple won its case against the SEC. The price immediately spiked to 81 cents and immediately dumped right back to where it was. I had some excitement about XRP before that, but when I saw that, I thought, this is truly an example of how bad this is. Even though everyone said the price was so suppressed because of the court case, all the gains that came from the court-case hype and from XRP being added back on exchanges were immediately lost within a couple of months. That is a shockingly bad performance.

XRP also hit its top price, especially against Bitcoin, back in 2017. It had a terrible bull market by comparison in 2021, and I think this next bull market is going to be even worse for it. I'm going to cover some of the data that nobody hyping XRP will ever show you, because this data is really shockingly bad and it directly disputes everything the XRP hypers say. This, to me, is the truth about XRP.

Some of the worst tokenomics in all of crypto

The XRP ledger starts tracking back in 2013, so this is an old crypto. And before I forget, because this is really important: despite XRP being out nearly as long as Bitcoin and longer than Ethereum, Ripple still has over 40% or so of the entire supply locked up today. XRP has one of the largest amounts of potential token dumpage on the entire market.

This is why, under almost every single scenario, I believe XRP is going to go to zero. The market cap today is around 27 billion dollars, but the fully diluted valuation is 50 billion, because Ripple is sitting on 20 billion more dollars to dump all over the XRP holders. The price can't go anywhere because they are constantly crapping on the market. That's probably exactly what happened with the court-case pump: as soon as the case pumps the price, Ripple immediately unloads on everybody. Anytime the price pumps, Ripple unloads, and it goes right back to where it was. They have billions and billions of dollars, 20-plus billion, waiting. These are some of the worst tokenomics in all of crypto.

If there actually was real crypto growth here, that might be one thing, but the XRP ledger growth is shockingly bad too. Even if all the tokens were already out, and even if the growth were 10 times what it is today, I still think it wouldn't be worth a 50 billion dollar fully diluted market cap. That's 10 times bigger than Internet Computer is today. By comparison, Internet Computer has the largest research and development team in all of crypto, employees with hundreds of patents, and they've solved really hard problems. They have the very first ever Bitcoin and Ethereum layer two on the exact same infrastructure. They have HTTPS outcalls, which eliminate the need for oracles. They have an entirely new way to build the internet, and yet XRP is valued 10 times higher than that. To me that's ridiculous. If you want to go deeper on how I weigh coins like this against each other, I keep these conversations going in my Crypto Reviews playlist.

The XRP ledger growth tells the real story

Look at the number of payments from one account to another over the all-time history of the ledger. Ten years ago, think how small Bitcoin was. Ten years ago, the XRP ledger was doing something like 10,000 payments a day. Now fast forward 10 years into the future, and there are only a few hundred thousand payments a day, and even that includes some recent, probably temporary manipulation before it dropped back down. Most of the time it's a few hundred thousand payments. That's the total number of transactions on the entire network, and in 10 years it has only done a 10X or 20X in real payments.

Think about how much faster Ethereum has grown. And at this rate, Internet Computer is going to absolutely blow this away in growth, because it's only been out three years and it is already doing so much more than the XRP ledger is after 10 years and so many billions of dollars. But what's even worse is how small the growth is in the last few years specifically. It grew about 10X or 20X in daily payments over 10 years, but in February 2021 it was already at hundreds of thousands of payments a day, and on some bull-market days it got up to a few hundred thousand. There has been almost no growth except for whatever temporary thing happened when some hyper launched something, and that quickly went away. There's been almost no growth in an entire cycle on the number of payments from one account to another. Some of these metrics won't even load properly, but if you look at things like accounts created, the story is exactly the same. This is not showing promising growth relative to the huge quantity of token dumpage.

The technology is years behind

Here's a good example of how the technology on XRP is so far behind that it's laughable. They're introducing the XRPL EVM sidechain. They're excited to bring Ethereum compatibility to the XRP ledger. But they're an entire cycle late for this. This has been around 10 years, and they're just introducing Ethereum compatibility now, while the blockchain itself can barely do anything besides centralizing transactions and creating tokens. So why do you even need XRP at all?

Bot networks pushing XRP videos

Some people are hyping this stuff up, and from my own analysis of my YouTube analytics, it appears there are networks of bots that push XRP videos. If you say the price is going to pump, you can say almost anything else in those videos and the bots will push your video like crazy. I wondered what happened because I made an XRP hype video myself, which I have since deleted, over a year ago, and I got a huge amount of views. My video went straight to the top of search results, which was uncommon, and yet I got almost no genuine interaction on the video. That's a big part of why I now only make educational material where I show you the research I do. Before that, I was just blabbing off the mouth, repeating things other people were saying. I've covered more of that turnaround in why I think XRP and Solana are destroying crypto.

The clickbait narratives: BRICS, $10,000, ISO 20022

Some people say XRP is going to be the new global reserve currency, and that BRICS is talking about using it. Just Google that and look at who is actually saying it. CoinEdition runs headlines like "BRICS nations: more blockchain payments, XRP floated," and when you read it, it says XRP is the group "most likely" to be used for cross-border payments. Why would you get excited about something Russia might use for cross-border payments? I don't see any concrete proof that Vladimir Putin even knows what XRP is. These websites are just putting out stuff to get clickbait headlines, and then you've got crypto "analysts," who knows what they actually know.

All I am is someone who shows you the research I do. I make educational material, I try to make jokes and make it entertaining, and I show you what I'm doing with my own money. There's no proof of anything I've ever heard any one of these XRP hypers say. I've never seen any proof at all of anything any of them have ever claimed. Look at this: the same CoinEdition website that ran the XRP-BRICS headline, five days earlier, ran one where someone predicted XRP would surge to 10,000 dollars. Then you've got these other people saying "XRP is confirmed." I guarantee you it's not confirmed, and this is not what's happening. These are clickbait headlines. I've been seeing XRP people say this kind of stuff from every single angle for years. The ISO 20022 narrative has proven to be absolutely fraudulent. All those coins have sucked, none of them have actually got adopted, and you need to think bigger picture, which most people don't do.

Everybody already does cross-border payments

If we go to the Ripple website and look at their use cases, what do they do? Cross-border payments. Yeah, 10 years ago XRP for cross-border payments was pretty industry-leading. Now? Do you want to see what else does cross-border payments? Bitcoin. Ethereum. Tether. BNB. Solana. USDC. Dogecoin. Did you know Dogecoin does cross-border payments? All of these do cross-border payments now. The competition is insane. USDC is huge on Ethereum, Tether is huge, and you can just pay in a stablecoin. I don't see why you'd use XRP when you can pay in a stablecoin. Cross-border payments and global money transfers, is this 1990-something? Everybody does cross-border payments now.

I'll tell you what does it better than anything else, in my opinion: Internet Computer Protocol. You can actually build an application like OpenChat fully on chain, completely on chain, and I have a wallet integrated right into it. I can send 32 ICP to anybody anywhere in the world right now. Not only that, I drop tips in my chat for people. I sent someone a half ICP just for making a verifiable-credentials post, and that's fully on chain. I don't care that a blockchain can send payments anywhere in the world, because they all can do that. Internet Computer is the only protocol in the world where you can build your entire website, application, NFTs, metaverse, and game fully on chain, and then integrate an absolute huge amount of tokens: chain-key Bitcoin, chain-key Ethereum, USDC, it's all in there. So compared to Internet Computer, XRP's cross-border payments are nothing but disappointing in my opinion.

Late to the stablecoin market

They just announced a stablecoin recently too, and people are hyped up about it. Well, congratulations on being late to the market. Here's a hint: Tether already has a 112 billion dollar stablecoin. Circle with USDC already has a 32 billion dollar stablecoin. Great job, let's all hype up XRP for being way late to the market with a stablecoin. It's on the XRP ledger, and XRP is doing so poorly that they also put it on Ethereum, because just using it straight on XRP there aren't enough people using it, as I just showed you on the actual ledger. There's almost no users compared to Ethereum. And yet XRP is valued at something like 8% of Ethereum, which to me is dramatically overvalued.

Tokenized assets, custody, and why builders choose ICP

Internet Computer, to me, is amazing technology, and most people are not aware of it yet. When you compare it to what Ripple is doing, Ripple just looks disappointing. They're talking about custody and integrating tokenized assets. Well, let me tell you who else does tokenized assets. Even Bitcoin does tokenized assets now, with all these runes and ordinals. Ethereum does tokenized assets, and I think they do a really good job with it. So does BNB, and so does Solana. And the Internet Computer, of course, has the best real-world asset protocol in the world, called Origyn, allowing you to put anything you want fully on chain. You want to sell houses? You can put the deed on chain, the pictures, the videos, all of it.

And why would a builder choose Internet Computer instead of XRP? If you want to do real-world tokenized assets on chain, then speed, scalability, and cost-effective data storage stand out as key advantages of Internet Computer over things like XRP. Internet Computer has the most advanced infrastructure and technology, and it's valued at 10% of XRP. There's no way XRP beats Internet Computer over the long term. Absolutely no way.

The central bank digital currency narrative

And you think I'm done? I'm not done yet. There's crypto liquidity, and then there's my favorite narrative: implementing central bank digital currencies. Let's all be oppressed together by central-bank-controlled digital currencies, and let's speculate that it's all going to happen on Ripple with XRP. Have you noticed that central bank digital currencies have flopped even in countries like China, where adoption was so low?

If I were one of these people in a seat of power, you know how I'd implement a central bank digital currency? I'd do it on Internet Computer. Why? Because the only way a central bank digital currency is going to work is if you can use it globally across all of your applications. If you can have things like OpenChat fully on chain, and websites like Jerry Banfield fully on chain, then a central bank digital currency would actually work all over the world and you could transact it directly on chain. You know what's not going to work? Putting it on XRP, which hardly anybody uses. I showed you the ledger; it's going nowhere.

I got roped in, and I lost money on XRP myself

I'm shocked by all of this. I had a friend who was so hyped up on XRP and these ISO narratives, and all he's done is lose money on it, repeatedly. And I even got roped into this myself. Somebody sent me an email, and they'll send you these emails too, which is now why I avoid emails. People send me these messages in chat, sounding really spiritual: "Jerry, you know, this is what God wants." And for some reason God wants XRP and BRICS to bring us a new central bank digital currency. Like, what? This stuff is ridiculous. I've never heard one XRP video that, upon further research, actually had any valid information in it in terms of XRP price speculation. Be very careful with anyone who messages you privately on Discord or Telegram claiming to be me, because it's a scam, a liar, or a fake account, and I don't want anyone losing thousands of dollars to one of them. If you ever want to make sure you're actually talking with me, you can always reach me directly on my website rather than trusting a random DM.

And the chart so far backs me up: every single person who said XRP was going to pump, and hyped it, has been wrong for years. They've been going on about XRP since way back, and every single one of them has been blatantly wrong.

Adding XRP to my review spreadsheet

So I am really looking forward to adding XRP to my review spreadsheet. I'll log that I reviewed it today, and I said at 49 cents there's no way. In my opinion, there is no way XRP beats ICP's price action. I'll keep track of this over the long term for every single crypto I review, and I'll consistently update you. Yes, currently I'm losing by 2% over the first five cryptos I did. Let's just give it some time, because I'm certain I'm going to win over time.

I'm reviewing as many altcoins as I possibly can stand, and I'm knocking out all the ones people asked for. Almost everybody who's bought XRP, including me, has lost money on it at this point. I lost probably a thousand dollars in 2023 on XRP, because I got sucked into the hype. I exited XRP after I started to question the hype and did my own research. In my experience and in my opinion, it looks like a crypto investment that's going to zero. If you want my full breakdown for holders specifically, I put it all in Dear XRP holders: what nobody is telling you, and the on-chain numbers behind today's review are in the critical XRP data most holders never look at.
