Crypto Pays Me More to Promote What I Don't Believe In

I've spent the last several years on YouTube and X telling everybody that Internet Computer Protocol is the best technology in crypto. And yet I know that I can make way more money promoting all these other coins. Let me give you an example. If you go to maxfi.com — and the best way to go there is to go to jerrybanfield.com and click on my MaxFi link, because then I get 3% of whatever you sign up with — here's a pool I could put liquidity into where I could be making 93% to 565% APR. Here's another one, Coinbase Bitcoin, 100% average APR. Wrapped ETH USDC, 500% APR. This is the kind of money I could be making, and not just that. If any of you sign up through my link, I get 3% of all the swap fees you generate. So if you generate $100,000 for yourself, I would end up getting $3,000 of that just for referring you.

Here's the problem: this is a serious conflict of interest. The best technology in crypto — I did a video about that, and I've done tons of videos about that. And then I did a video saying, look, I don't want to keep promoting ICP for free. I'm done marketing ICP for free. Do you think people said, "Great, let's work on solutions"? I even proposed a solution: that the Network Nervous System, the most advanced DAO in crypto, could print money for itself. But people were shockingly toxic, nasty, closed-minded, ungrateful.

The Math I Have to Face

What does that mean? Well, I still believe ICP is the best technology in crypto by far. But I need to be realistic, because I need to make at least $10,000 a month to keep doing this thing that I'm doing full time. My rent's $2,700 a month. My electric bill in the summer is $300 a month, and I have lots more expenses. If I make $10,000 a month, by the time I pay 30 or 40% — $3,000-plus a month in tax — I've got $7,000 left over. Knock out a third of that to rent. I have debt payments of about $1,000 a month. Then I've got a few thousand left. I can get massages, do stuff for my kids, go to the grocery store, maybe travel occasionally. And the work I've done to promote ICP, as I've laid out before, is worth at least $10,000 to maybe $20,000 to $40,000 a month.

Now imagine if I was promoting these other coins instead — if I was promoting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, meme coins on Solana and Pump.fun, shilling coins on Binance, doing XRP hype videos, hyping up meme coins with shorts showing how if you'd bought this much Shiba Inu you'd be a millionaire. And if I was then on MaxFi providing liquidity — which I'm thinking I'm going to get into pretty heavy. Right now I have my Internet Computer split up into three buckets, and my Internet Computer that's sitting there liquid is earning absolutely nothing. Even if the price 10Xs, I probably can make more money on my liquid ICP than I can just sitting here doing ICP videos. That's what's so crazy.

Crypto will make sense when you realize almost everybody is simply prioritizing money. Almost all people like me care about in crypto is money, and almost everybody's choosing the much bigger money they can get on these other coins. And I'm grateful — I have $25,000 in the Network Nervous System on ICP. I've got over 10,000 ICP, the most I've ever had, and only a few hundred dollars in these other ICP ecosystem coins. I've got 8,000 in liquid ICP and 16,000 in locked ICP. And I'm thinking I'm going to take the 8,000 in liquid ICP, sell it, and deposit it in MaxFi. Then I can literally be buying ICP with my profits, and I can be paying my rent with the profits. I'll have a community like my Crypto Reviews channel, where I've been shilling ICP a bunch. Make no mistake: to me, while ICP is crap in terms of how much money you're going to make promoting it, it is the best technology in crypto. It is the simplest solution. But what's my top priority? Can we stop acting like it's not money?

Why I Want to Get Paid to Talk About ICP

This is why I want to get paid well to continue talking about ICP. I deleted everything on YouTube a year ago because I was tired of talking about ICP every day and getting a tiny part-time paycheck for doing full-time work. My wife at the time was tired of me doing that too, and of me having to depend on her financially. Then she divorced me and took 80% of the money and the stuff. So now I don't have a wife to depend on. I've been borrowing money, and the time's up. I believe I deserve to get paid ten-plus grand a month for the work I'm doing.

So here's the plan: I put $8,000 into MaxFi and start making videos every day about MaxFi. I'd probably put 80 or 90 different positions across all these pools. The thing that bothers me is this: do I believe in Bitcoin? No. Do I like meme coins? No. Have I criticized most of these coins that have pools I'd potentially be putting money into? Yes. But here's the thing — I'm tired of sitting here looking like an idiot while everybody else in my position makes money. And why not put some liquidity in some of these? MaxFi has made an incredible DeFi system that's printing huge amounts of money for its users. My only resistance is that I don't like Ethereum, I don't like wrapped Ethereum, I don't like Coinbase Bitcoin. Well, do I like making money? Yes, I do. Do I like showing you all how you can be printing money using MaxFi too? The founders came on a couple of videos ago and showed me how they're printing money, and Blockchain Pill is printing money on it. $8,000 could be enough for me to make several hundred dollars a day if I pick the right pools. Now, I could lose money — I could lose all my $8,000 if something went wrong. But I'd still have $16,000 of ICP sitting there locked up anyway, so I'd still be invested in ICP more than anything else.

I'll tell you what, though: I'd really like $200 a day. I'd really like to do videos every day about MaxFi. And I'd really like to get 3% from everybody who goes to jerrybanfield.com, scrolls down, and clicks on my MaxFi link. I'd love to learn how to provide all this liquidity, pay back all my original principal, compound, and just print money every day — and then show people, hey, here's how I make $5,000 a month on MaxFi. And yes, I'm not a big fan of Arbitrum. I'm not a big fan of Base. Robinhood's chain is too new for me to have much of an opinion on it. But if I can throw $100 into wrapped ETH and NVIDIA and print money, I don't see why I wouldn't.

Generous to the Point of Foolish

At this point, I'm starting to feel like it's foolish to prioritize talking about the best technology every day when it doesn't seem the community cares that I keep doing it. Here's the thing: if you're just letting people use you, if you're just giving other people what they want and they're not taking care of you, that makes you a fool. It's nice to be loving and generous and give to others. But if you give all your food away to others and then starve, some people might say that's noble — I'd say that's foolish. I want to keep eating. I want to keep living in this 1,400-square-foot house I've got in one of the coolest neighborhoods in St. Pete. I've got a lake with about a mile running track around it — I went running the last two days. My kids love this house. My ex loves the location. I'm close to their schools. My mom loves coming here. Women keep coming over here — it's a great house for dating, and it's a perfect house for YouTube. I love it. I feel so at home here. And I'm going to have to move out of this house in a few months if I don't start bringing in thousands of dollars every month — unless some rich relative dies, or some fan online dies and leaves me a bunch of money, or maybe somebody just gifts me a bunch of money. Maybe that could happen.

But what I'm seeing is that MaxFi right now has got it. I've got enough money in ICP. I'll just take my liquid ICP and pour it in here. I'll test all these pools out. I can look through the Discord, tell you all which ones are the best, and then do videos every day saying, this one's the best right now, here's how to do it. Then people can come to my website, schedule calls, and ask me for help. That way I'll have crypto content for beginners — anyone can just buy some ICP and hold it, that's pretty easy — and I'll have content for people who are more advanced. I don't like the idea that I'd be relying on Bitcoin, Ethereum, PancakeSwap, Polygon — I don't know for sure about Polygon — and a bunch of these other coins to make money. If they went down or went to zero, I could lose money. But if that happened, ICP would probably be in good shape. And here's the thing: what if I'm wrong about these coins and they just keep going up and printing me money? What if I'm wrong about ICP, and these other coins print money while ICP does nothing but lose money?

So this is the position I'm in, and I hope me being this rigorously honest with you is helpful for you to see the environment in crypto: almost everybody prioritizes the dollars they can make promoting coins over telling you the best information in crypto. What's sad with ICP is that the community itself is struggling to break out of this hopelessness and take action on what needs to be done. What needs to be done, in my opinion, is that ICP needs to start printing tokens on the Network Nervous System for marketing. That would be the best thing the community can do — and of course, the community is extremely resistant to that. So I'm going to learn how to use MaxFi, and I'll be documenting the whole experiment on my Crypto Reviews playlist.

If you want to join me on there, go to jerrybanfield.com, click on that MaxFi link, and sign up — you'll know you're supporting me. I'm signing up through Blockchain Pill's referral link, so I'm supporting him. And I'm going to figure all this out. Robinhood Chain is super hot right now, and these pools have a ton of earning potential in here that I'm going to explore.
