Which Crypto Was Built for an AI Future?
AI is the biggest thing technologically happening in our world today. And I ask you, which crypto was built with the best AI functionality in mind? Which crypto blockchain, which layer one, is best prepared for a future dominated by AI? In my opinion, there's nothing that's built better today than ICP, by far. There's nothing else even close. It covers very important questions like AI and sovereign compute: can AI-generated actions be auditable through on-chain state and execution? Can the chain host a model serving AI? That's where you can get the advanced details. But let me back up and give you something a bit more simple.
Right now, there are two main things we need to think about in crypto in terms of AI. One: is your crypto setup — your blockchain and everything built around it — safe against AI hacking? This is one of the most urgent things that needs to be taken on in crypto, because most of our entire web infrastructure is built in a way that is not prepared to deal with advanced AI hacking, where AI can find vulnerabilities and exploit them rapidly.
Is Your Blockchain Safe Against AI Hacking?
The only solution I see that has potential for widespread public and private adoption is Internet Computer Protocol. Because you're now using the blockchain to secure all the activities that happen directly on the blockchain — the website, the backend, the code, the data. You're putting all of that inside a blockchain that's protected by math.
Now, yes, on ICP, if people code things poorly and leave things wide open, there are still opportunities for exploits. For example, if you make some app on ICP and leave an obvious admin bug open, and the AI is able to go in there, use your code, and send in an admin seed that you left open and obvious, then no, you're not going to be protected from that. But ICP is set up to proactively stop the majority of attack vectors that are leading to cybercrime. It's much harder to do phishing, much harder — if not impossible — to do anything with brute forcing, and all kinds of other ways that people are getting hacked and losing money all over the place. ICP proactively stops a whole lot of those because of the infrastructure built fully on chain, which nothing else in crypto can do.
This is highlighted by the disparity between the best technology in crypto, ICP, versus everything else, especially when you rank it by market cap. In my view, Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, BNB, Hyperliquid, Solana, Tron, Dogecoin, Stellar, Cardano — many of these coins people have sitting in their accounts can hardly do anything, when it comes to an engineering and technical perspective, compared to ICP. Now, these blockchains have been able to get away with that because AI has not been here to destroy their weak spots. But now AI is here.
When you've got an app on ICP where the entire application is built and contained within the blockchain and served directly to your web browser from the blockchain, there are so many higher-level security guarantees you're able to have from that versus other blockchains. On other chains, you've got tiny amounts of data on the chain, and then there are all these things connected off chain. All of those third-party tools, services, and connections present attack vectors, where if there's one problem with any of them that the AI can find and locate, it can then destroy the whole thing in some cases. If, for example, you're in some web browser wallet that's interacting with the Ethereum blockchain, almost nothing is actually on the blockchain — so if any little third-party dependency or service fails, whether your computer gets destroyed, or something in the middle gets hacked, or somebody in the equation is able to change something from the inside without you even being able to know it, then you're in a position to lose everything. There's so much of crypto that is very vulnerable right now to being hacked by AI.
How many hacks, how many bridge collapses and exploits, how many things do we need to see before people start to ask why this keeps happening? It keeps happening because of the way the infrastructure is built — and by infrastructure I mean the way things are hosted and coded. Very little of it happens on the blockchain itself. There's all this stuff hosted in ways that are vulnerable and insecure, and that's not a quick fix where you can just talk some marketing at your followers and promise results. These other blockchains are not even close to being able to offer real solutions. And this is why they don't talk about it — because if you talk about it, the follow-up questions become uncomfortable. Why is ICP the only thing that seems to be designed to proactively prevent most of the problems these other blockchains are extremely vulnerable to? Why is it that if I want to build a secure Bitcoin application, for example, ICP is the only viable way to do it right now? Why is it that if I want something better than using straight-up Ethereum, I have to accept all these trust assumptions on some layer 2? How many things can go wrong with all the other ways these things are hosted?
So AI right now is very dangerous to all these other blockchains, and I believe many of these are going to get hacked into oblivion because they're helpless. They can't do anything to stop it. The engineering is too late. They didn't do the engineering — they spent all their money on marketing, and their infrastructure is weak. The blockchains themselves may not go down. But when some DeFi app gets cracked with AI and collapses, and the TVL all pulls out of that blockchain, and then the coin all pulls out of that blockchain and gets dumped on an exchange — how many more times is that going to happen before people start to realize all these coins suck? They're all sitting there vulnerable in the same way. And in my personal opinion — this is not financial advice — the only way to be safe is to sell all these other dumb coins that can't handle and survive in an age of AI.
Which Blockchain Gains the Most From Building With AI?
Then, the second big thing with AI is which of these blockchains stand to gain the most from building with AI. Right now, because of how all these other blockchains are designed, it's very difficult to use AI to build on them. I don't even know how to do it. I haven't even seen an example of anybody doing it, because if you want to build something with Bitcoin, for example, you have to build something completely off chain and then try to interact with the Bitcoin blockchain. That presents a huge security vulnerability if you're using AI — because how do you know that whatever the AI built to interact with the blockchain can't be easily exploited by somebody else using AI? Thus, anything you're trying to build with AI outside of building it directly on ICP is extremely vulnerable to getting hacked, drained, or exploited.
That means building anything on any of these other blockchains with AI is impractical, because you're stuck on centralized hosting, you're stuck using a limited set of tools, you're stuck with a ton of third-party vulnerabilities. And then realistically, you need to pay a security team to try to find all the holes in it before somebody else does. Therefore, almost everything in the rest of crypto — all the stuff built around blockchains — is a house of cards, and that means there's no incentive for somebody to try to use AI to build something on it.
By comparison, with ICP, this entire website, CryptoTechCap.com, is built with AI directly on the blockchain. Thousands of pages on this website. There is an incentive to build with AI and ICP. The way ICP is set up, everything is on chain — everything important like websites and data — and you can pull price feeds and make HTTPS outcalls to other parts of the internet. That means you can build everything in the same environment with AI, like I just did right before writing this. I dropped in a video I had just filmed, and I used AI to put everything from that video directly on the blockchain in the form of a blog post. I have thousands of blog posts on my website — 1,230 of them — and they're all built directly on my website with AI. And the AI is able to build all of this on the blockchain because the infrastructure is set up in one single environment.
Why This Would Be a Nightmare on WordPress
Right now, it would not be easy for me to use AI to build this exact same blog setup with WordPress, because I'd have to go into WordPress, then I'd have to deal with my WordPress theme, and then any time anything updated, the AI would have to account for those updates. If anything is ever not perfectly lined up, it all breaks and goes wrong, or the AI can't do anything. And how do you even give the AI access to your entire WordPress website and your WordPress theme? There are some AI blog coding tools you can build on, but then you're stuck paying their hosting bill, which is often 50-plus dollars a month, you're stuck with their limited functionality, and often those can be very insecure — trying to incorporate blockchain features into them is an absolute nightmare. You're stuck only being able to work in their own little silo.
Whereas on ICP, I'm able to build everything I need fully on the blockchain. And if I wanted to — which I don't want to, because I'm in Florida and the laws are annoying — I have the technical capability. I could use AI, and instead of building a blog on my website, I could say: build me an entire crypto exchange. I want to be able to swap Bitcoin, Ethereum, ICP, and stablecoins, all directly on chain. And the AI could build all of it directly on Internet Computer. I could have my own crypto exchange built directly on Internet Computer Protocol. That is a big deal, because to me, most people in the future are going to want to use AI to build things, and Internet Computer is the best environment right now where you can build everything directly with AI, straight on the blockchain, in one single environment.
Dominic Williams and the Mechanicus Agent Framework
And this is not something you just have to take my word for. If you look at Dominic Williams, you can see one of the most exciting projects he's working on right now: the Mechanicus agent framework. It's designed to automate migration of enterprises to open SaaS running on ICP cloud engines — tamper-proof AI where SaaS is vastly better and free of SaaS bills. Do you know what this means? Right now, companies are spending a fortune paying all kinds of different software-as-a-service providers. They're paying providers like QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, Teams. You're paying Slack.
Replacing the Entire SaaS Stack on Chain
You're paying all these third-party providers to do all these different things for you. Right now, it's difficult in that environment to use AI to try to build stuff, because you then have to build it with the screwed-up infrastructure, everybody has their own security, and everything is siloed. Bobby O goes into this fantastically in his videos: your DocuSign — your secure document signing — is separate from your Microsoft Office suite, so trying to bring the two of those together with AI is impractical.
Whereas if you can just rebuild everything from the ground up, you can eliminate all the SaaS across the board. You don't need QuickBooks and Microsoft Office and Slack and Zoom to do all these different things. Now, maybe Zoom — I'm not sure we're ready to build that directly on the ICP blockchain — but there is a ton of things you can now use AI to rebuild your own version of, directly on the blockchain. And because it's all on the blockchain, because it's all in one environment that is predictable, verifiable, and tamper-proof, you can count on it to execute. Then you can build everything: your bookkeeping, your document signing, your document suite, your website. You can build all of that in one single environment. That is a gigantic technological breakthrough.
The One Blockchain Built for an Age of AI
Because of that, I believe we can see how clear it is that ICP is the one blockchain built for an age of AI. It is a singularity. It is the outlier. It is what stands out. It is the blockchain best prepared to both defend from AI attacks and profit from AI building — all the way from solopreneurs like me, building and hosting on the ICP blockchain, all the way up to enterprises looking to ditch gigantic software-as-a-service bills and move to something not just cheaper, but more secure. Enterprises are tired of getting hacked and paying huge security teams and huge bills. Enterprises could save huge amounts of money rebuilding on ICP.
Thus, to me, with crypto, always be looking towards the future. Where is the future going? It's going towards AI. And which blockchain is best prepared from an offensive and defensive standpoint? In my view, ICP.
