Here's how I turn one long form video that I film into a whole bunch of shorts, clips, and everything I need to post on all the major platforms, without having to film shorts separately, and with a super easy workflow. In my experience this is one of the best content creation workflows you're ever going to see in the world, and I'm going to explain it at a high level first and then go into the details.
The high level: film horizontal and vertical at the same time
The high level is this. In OBS, I set up my OBS to film horizontal and vertical at the same time. In order to do the system I've got, you need to be able to film videos in real time. That's where we begin. I'm able to turn one video into a whole bunch of videos, all natively, perfectly, because I live record everything in OBS in both horizontal and vertical at the same time. That means every video comes out with a horizontal version and a vertical version.
Then I take the vertical version and drop it into Claude in a folder, and Claude just pulls out the best clippable moments from the vertical version. This works so much better than trying to clip a video that was not natively filmed that way. It allows the resolution to work out perfectly.
My actual OBS setup
I have OBS set up right here, with my vertical on the left, and I use AITUM. If you look at the docs, that's the vertical shot. It adds a plugin where you have vertical sources and horizontal sources at the same time. So I've got my vertical sources here, and I use ChatGPT to come up with the background, then I use ChatGPT to make it a 16 by 9 background as well. I drop both of those backgrounds in against my green screen in my studio here.
Then in my studio, I have an Elgato Stream Deck up here, or I use my phone if I'm standing further away, and I use that to trigger the recording to start. Then I just talk off the top of my head against the thumbnail backgrounds, occasionally screen capturing where I need to. Once I'm done with that, I hit record again and turn it off. And this is where the magic happens.
Where the magic happens: dropping it into Claude
I've got these instances of Claude where I just drop the video into a specific folder in Claude. Once it's in the folder in Claude, then Claude goes through first and turns the horizontal into a blog post on jerrybanfield.com. That gets me additional Google organic search traffic, which is just more free clicks.
If you look at my Google Search Console for jerrybanfield.com, I started publishing my videos as blog posts, and my clicks started immediately going up. I've got 27,000 impressions in the last three months, but most of them, about half of them, in the last 28 days, and very consistent. So I'm getting free clicks straight into my blog posts off of AI taking my horizontal video and turning it into a blog post, which then is not going to be censored.
Then it goes everywhere
Then I post the long video. I have six different YouTube channels, and I post them on there. I have two different X accounts, and I post my long videos on those as well, which gets me additional reach on X. Then on Facebook, I just signed up for Facebook again after deleting it, and I'm testing which format I want to put up for the best results on Facebook. Facebook can handle the horizontal videos and the vertical videos. On TikTok, I just put up the vertical video clips, and I can also put the entire vertical long version on TikTok. I'm testing which format works best on LinkedIn too.
Then I put up clips. The AI will create one to three highlight clips out of each of my videos, and to minimize having it screw up, it just takes me talking straight and pulls that out without doing any other edits. It's like, okay, start here, stop here, boom, render that video. I put those up as YouTube shorts, which helps get all my videos discovered and gets more people to my website. And then I have a couple of Instagram accounts, a Jerry Banfield show account and a Jerry Banfield crypto or ICP account, that I can use to get more people to my website. I put those clips on those channels too.
Then I'm able to tap into the maximum amount of discovery I can have across all these platforms, and it's all available. It goes super fast. It doesn't take much time. This is something I can do in a few hours, three to five hours a day, seven days a week on average.
The numbers: over 50 uploads a day
I'm able to film six long form videos a day, and then I have 12 shorts a day out of that. And I just upload all of that. If you add up how much that is on each platform, you end up with about three uploads times six, so like 18 uploads a day on YouTube, and then like 12 on Instagram, like 12 on TikTok. You're getting into over 50 uploads a day that I'm able to do on these platforms combined. And in my experience, that's how you make some serious money as a content creator.
If you're only uploading a few videos on one platform a week, I mean, it's nearly hopeless for you, because there are people like me that are collectively cranking out like 50 uploads, and then people like Gary V that are cranking out hundreds of uploads a day across all his different platforms. But the secret is the speed.
Cutting out editing entirely
What you'll notice is I've eliminated the biggest points of resistance. By filming my videos in OBS, I'm able to cut out the massive amounts of editing time. So you might ask, well, what happens when you butcher a video or screw up what you're saying? I generally have a no refilming rule. You start talking, and if it comes out awkward, so what?
Especially in this age of AI, there's so much AI stuff that is perfectly in sync with exactly where the word should go, and it follows the script perfectly, but it doesn't sound human at all. If you have a brain, you can detect that it's AI content pretty quickly, because there's a very certain tempo that they speak at and it's just agonizing. And you're like, my God, I wish there was a human that was actually behind all of this content.
So I enjoy that I'm human, and I prove I'm human by my mistakes. That makes my content very relatable and very human. And that's what gets people to come do business with me on my website, to pay for content creator coaching, for my chat, and to join my community on Skool. I've got all of that stuff on there, and it sets me up for success.
The more I refuse to edit, the more I just get used to it. I get used to making the best of whatever I say. And I get used to speaking in a way where it generally comes out at 90 percent of whatever it would be after editing anyway. Most of the videos I watch that I love are not edited either. I just like hearing a real human talking off the top of their head. That's how I do my content.
So I've cut out the biggest time waster most people have, which is editing. Agonizing amounts of time that people spend editing their videos, when you don't even need to edit your videos these days. Because when you use the AI to strip out the best clips from your videos, you're already getting the top moments. The highlights are already there to get you discovered. When you want to get people to go deeper, though, you want people to have a real authentic experience with you. That's what will help people become true fans.
This used to be so much harder
What's amazing is that this process took so much longer and was so much harder before AI came along. I used to do this for a decade, and it was like, oh, I'm not going to do this again. It took so long to upload every video. So long for me to make the damn thumbnail, or pay somebody to do a thumbnail.
The key thing, if you want to be a content creator, is that you need to create fast and cut resistance. Cut every bit of resistance you possibly can so that you maximize the amount of time you are creating. At this rate, when I get enough money, I can hire someone and it'll be like, hey, all Jerry has to do now is do videos and do coaching, and I can hire someone to take several hours a day and upload all this stuff on my accounts. But for now, what's nice is that I'm doing it all myself, so I'm seeing what is necessary and what is not necessary.
The bottom line
If you're going to be a successful creator, what I've come to believe is that the number one thing you need to do is create more content that's the best quality you're capable of, that people enjoy, in the least amount of time, with the least amount of resistance. That means cut editing altogether. Use AI where it can speed things up, like clipping all your videos. Get your videos recorded in something like OBS so that the mic and the audio are fantastic and everything is set up from the very beginning, and all you have to do is hit record. If you want to see more of how I do this, I break the whole system down further in my YouTube Coaching playlist.
Hit record, talk, hit record, upload, get clips, upload those, go viral, get paid. Let's go.
