Crypto Is Rewarding Me for the Wrong Behavior

Crypto Is Rewarding Me for the Wrong Behavior

I just made $1,000 in the last 24 hours on my crypto portfolio because I saw that there was this new liquidity pool on Coinbase with MaxFi, and I just YOLOed a bunch of money into it, thousands of dollars of Zcash and wrapped Ethereum. I had $9,300 or so in my portfolio yesterday. Now I have $10,400 in my portfolio today, because I'm printing money on liquidity for this. I'm printing money because Zcash went up and then all these APRs went up. If you want to join me on MaxFi through my referral link, you can get in on this. This is for more advanced people in crypto. This is not just the easy thing to do. There's lots that can go wrong, but I know how to do all this stuff, and I just printed $1,000 in the last day.

Do I Want to Be Right or Do I Want to Make Money?

Do I believe in the future of Ethereum and Zcash? I'm pretty skeptical. Do I believe in the future of ICP? The technology is fantastic, yes, but I would have made almost nothing. I have like $20,000 in ICP just sitting there, and it does nothing on a daily basis. It's like this entire crypto system we're in is backwards. What should be rewarded is the best technology in crypto, the most incredible innovation, solving real world problems. That's what should be backed. I have $18,900 in ICP just sitting there, and I'm going to sell some of it, $9,600 of it, in the next week, because I've come down to a point where it's like, do I want to be right or do I want to make money?

This is a perfect example. Last night I'm like, all right, I'm going to go to bed and make some money tonight before I go to bed. I parked $9,000 some originally, and then I made even more money, and I pulled a couple thousand out of liquidity so I could reposition. But last night I dropped almost $10,000 into Ethereum and Zcash, and I wake up and I've got $1,000 more today than I did yesterday. I pulled some out. I rotate around. Then I make videos as a content creator about Zcash, and that reaches a new community, which gives me a chance to get new followers and subscribers and just grow from there. Then I can do the same basic thing. I can park some money in other coins and bring communities in.

I've lost so much money, hundreds of thousands of dollars I would have made over the last three years if I hadn't parked all my money in ICP. I've lost and lost and lost on ICP, and it's ridiculous. In crypto, we should be supporting the best tech, and most of these other cryptos are useless next to ICP technologically. But why would somebody like me, when my top objective at this point is not to be right but to pay the rent, mess around with this? Yes, I've got ICP, and I'm going to keep this $9,000 of my ICP, and I may keep some of the other $9,000, so I might keep $10,000 or $15,000 of ICP. But when I can get gains like this? Yes, I've taken some losses, but I was printing so much money on Robinhood meme coins for a few days, even though the meme coins dropped like 40 or 50%, that I still only lost a few hundred dollars. And if I hadn't pulled all my money out of Robinhood meme coins, some of them, like Juggernaut, absolutely blew up, like 5x'ed in a day, and I would have printed a whole bunch of money on that. Not just my Juggernaut going up, but I would have printed on all the liquidity and all the transactions.

All the Incentives in Crypto Are Misaligned

It's very important. The most key thing I can communicate is that in crypto, all the incentives are misaligned, and I'm just going to be transparent. Look, I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired of being on the side of what feels right in terms of values and ethics and then feels wrong when I look at my wallet. I'm not going to be playing the fool, and yet there's got to be a way that you can kind of play both sides.

What I'm going to try and do right now is play both sides. I'm going to take that easy money in crypto, and I'm going to show you how I'm making that easy money in crypto, and I'm going to park money in ICP and let it sit there and just earn its 7 or 8 percent and hope that the technology someday matters, someday gets adopted, and someday the price 10Xs on ICP and makes it all worth it. Sometimes in life you take what's there. I made some quick, easy profits on Ethereum and Zcash in the last 24 hours, but it could plunge and some of those could be lost. It could go up more, and I could make more. I'm going to probably rotate some more out. I think I'm in a little too much Zcash right now, and I'd like to be diversified better. You take that money that I made, and I can pull it out and put it into some other meme coins that are down and try and catch them when they pump.

How I Think I Can Be a Crypto Millionaire

I think I can be a crypto millionaire if I combine some holistic investing based on the technology with this. If ICP 10Xs or 20Xs, I could make a lot of money on that. ICP deserves to at least 10X, if not 20 or 30X, from where it's at. Let's say ICP 20 or 30Xs. That could be a lot of money. I think I can be a crypto millionaire if I combine some of those. This could turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars, and what's left of my ICP after I sell some could turn into hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the meantime, what if ICP takes years to go up? Then there are things I can do that could make me a crypto millionaire faster than just parking money in ICP. The challenge is it's more difficult, but I know how to take the more difficult path, and I can show people that are more advanced in crypto how to take the more difficult path also.

I wish it could just not have this dichotomy, where it feels like there's just chasing money for money, and maybe it's short term and maybe it all collapses at some point, versus this, which to me is the future, but the future may take quite a while to come along. It might take three to five years to get those 20, 50, 100Xs that are possible in ICP. What if I can make hundreds of thousands of dollars now and just sit on it? What's crazy is I can actually take profits from doing stuff like this and then park it back in ICP. On MaxFi they have ICP pools on Coinbase's layer two now, and I can just take profits from this and then park it back in ICP providing liquidity and make money on that. If ICP goes up, my liquidity goes up. If the ICP price stays flat, I still print fees on it.

Something I Can Honestly Broadcast to My Audience

I'm grateful I've been able to get here. This has been a big transition for me, because when I first started in crypto, all I cared about was how do I make money for myself? But the more I did that, the more my audience would often get wrecked while I made a bunch of money. So then I switched over to, well, how do I just invest with integrity and do something that's simple and easy over the long term? But then my audience gets wrecked in ICP compared to getting into these other coins. And it's like, damn it, can't I figure out something in crypto I can do that I can honestly broadcast to my audience and show what I'm doing, and it's not financial advice, it's just what I'm doing with my money?

What's funny is, even as a content creator, there's very little for me to lose if I get wrecked screwing around with some of this stuff, because that makes great content. Unfortunately, getting wrecked in ICP, even getting wrecked in ICP every day, still brings a loyal audience in that goes to jerrybanfield.com and schedules calls. Thank you for those of you that are in there, that join the Skool community, schedule calls, and join the chat, that play the meme coin game I made, that buy my shirts at the bottom of the page, and that try out MaxFi.

I think I found, after all this time in crypto, for all these years, the middle path. Look, there's something I believe in. If you want an utterly simple approach to crypto, ICP only is a nice way to do it. If you want more advanced and you want to chase some profits, definitely, I have ICP, and that's going to be at least a third if not half of my portfolio. But then why don't we go and mess around with some of this other stuff and see if we can hit the jackpot in the slot machine, see if we can make some interesting content, make sure I can pay all my bills, get these sponsorships, and therefore keep creating content full time? Let's see if I can walk the middle road. Let's not be an extremist where it's all ICP and it's all technology, or it's all just anything to print money. Can I work between those two dichotomies going forward?

It's funny, because I just put up a lot of shorts, and some of them I'm saying, you know, you're going to have to take my ICP, there's nothing I'm going to do to give it up, and then others of them it's like, I'm done being an ICP maxi, the marketing isn't going anywhere. These two extremes are: ICP is all tech, and these other coins are all marketing, with a tiny bit of tech, while this is a tiny bit of marketing with all tech. So this to me is the balance The Alchemist talks about. Can you walk through and enjoy life without spilling the oil? Can I be in crypto and chase those quick show-off profits and provide some entertainment, some craziness, like, dang, I just got in this meme coin and it 50x'ed today and I made twenty thousand dollars and here's how I did it? Because I want to have content like that, and there's just no content like that I can create with ICP. But then I have ICP content that says, look, I take some of my profits over here, stick them back into ICP, and just sit on that, and I put that away for the long term. For someone that wants a simpler approach, that's there.

Holding Two Opposing Views at Once

I'm really grateful for all of you that have followed me through all of this. I'm grateful for the chance to open my mind. Lots of times, the things we want in our lives require us to open our minds. We need to be able to handle two seemingly opposing points of view simultaneously: that crypto should be about all the tech, and the reality that right now it's mostly all about marketing and that's where almost all the money is, but that the tech still does matter and still could go somewhere in the long term. So I'm planning, on my Jerry Banfield Crypto Reviews channel, to do what I can to make as much money for myself as I can in crypto and document exactly how I do it. If you want to take that advanced route, I'll show you what I'm doing. I'll continue supporting the best technology and the biggest research and development team in crypto. I'll keep hoping that maybe they'll properly appreciate and fund marketing in the ICP community, but I'm not going to wait any longer after years. I'm going to go ahead and accept the money that the universe is offering to me in these other coins and say thank you. Thank you for Zcash and Ethereum for printing, and MaxFi for printing, and Coinbase for printing a thousand dollars for me in the last 24 hours. That makes a huge difference. It's so much more than just a few hours.

It's so funny, as soon as I've gotten more open and honest that, look, I want enough money. I want 10 plus grand a month to pay all my bills, and after taxes that takes it down to like six or seven thousand a month. I just want to be able to pay my rent, keep having my kids over, keep dating women, keep getting massages every week. I want to keep my lifestyle, and I want to create content that's honest, that's real, that's raw, that's authentic for people, that gives people options, whether it's simple in tech or whether it's advanced and printing with risk. With risk, definitely, with risk and with more time involved. I think I've found a nice middle path to go for, gravitating between extremes. I appreciate your support and would love to get to know you better on jerrybanfield.com. Every coin and DeFi play I document along the way lands in my Crypto Reviews playlist. Thanks for watching.
