Is Buying 555 ICP Like Owning 123 Ethereum in 2016?

Buying 555 ICP today is like being able to go back and buy 128 Ethereum in 2016 — and I actually had that much Ethereum back then. There are some huge comparisons here that I think are essential. If you missed Ethereum back then, or if you were like me — on Ethereum, but without the long-term vision, selling way too early at a tiny profit — then in my view, ICP is the second chance today.

The Math on Owning One-Millionth of the Supply

Here's the math. 128 Ethereum in 2016 is around one-millionth of the entire supply of Ethereum right now. Technically it's 121 Ethereum at the current supply, but call it 128 — either way, you'd have over one-millionth of the entire supply. Meanwhile, ICP's supply is around 530 million, and therefore you can get one-millionth of the entire supply for a fraction of the cost. Today, out of the entire ICP supply of roughly 555 million, it would only cost you a little over $1,000 to own one-millionth of the entire ICP network. And how much would it cost today to get one-millionth of Ethereum? If you multiply 121 by the current price, it would cost you over $200,000 to buy one-millionth of Ethereum.

Why the difference? ICP is about a 200 times smaller market cap than Ethereum. But the big difference goes deeper than market cap. In 2016, Ethereum was a huge technological breakthrough: instead of just having a chain where you do transactions, Ethereum made the blockchain programmable — a kind of calculator version of a world computer, which was a huge improvement over Bitcoin. And that came out roughly seven years after Bitcoin. Meanwhile, ICP has been out for five years, and I believe it is a gigantic improvement over everything else in crypto technologically. Instead of just having tiny little bits of data on the blockchain, you can now put terabytes of data on the blockchain, run calculations entirely within smart contracts, and host websites directly on chain.

Proving the Technology: Crypto Tech Cap

The technological breakthrough can most easily be seen by going to a website that's hosted on ICP, which I made with AI, called Crypto Tech Cap. It goes through and shows you, based on the technical capabilities of the blockchain itself from the documentation, what each blockchain can do versus all the others. ICP can do 97 out of 100 things you would want a blockchain to do. The next best is Polkadot and Kusama, and Ethereum comes in way below that. If you sort by market cap, you'll see Ethereum only answers 22 out of 100. Bitcoin, only 10. XRP, 6. Hyperliquid, 7. What I take from this is that ICP deserves a market cap that is about a thousand times what it's at today, because this is some of the most revolutionary technology we have on the planet. In my opinion, ICP should be the number one crypto behind Bitcoin and Ethereum, because you can do things like put your entire website fully on chain.

You can get in on all of this with me by joining the Jerry Banfield Family. You can direct message me, introduce yourself, and make this a two-way relationship — because right now, I don't know you at all. I'm not reading YouTube comments anymore, because everybody just ends up being numbers on a screen, and so many of the comments are critical. In the Family, you can build a two-way relationship with me where I know you and I know your name. A guy joined today — he joined yearly — and as soon as he joined, I sent him a personalized video to welcome him and tell him what that meant to me. It's kind of like OnlyFans, but for business — strictly business, obviously — where you can build a relationship with me and with everybody else in the cult... I mean, the Family on Skool. Let's take things to the next level. I'm doing dating videos too. I'm like, what woman wouldn't want this face? This is a very sexy face.

What I Missed in 2016 — and What I See Now

In 2016, Ethereum was an incredible deal that almost no one realized. Ethereum was sitting there at a seventy-some million dollar market cap. I found it. I was playing around with things like MyEtherWallet, and it had these tokens you could add into it, and I thought, this is cool. But what I didn't see is what it could become. The difference with ICP is that I found ICP and I do see what it can become. I believe ICP can become the future of the internet, whereas Ethereum became the future of crypto DeFi and introduced entirely new paradigms to crypto, like stablecoins.

And stablecoins have actually ruined a lot of the value of Bitcoin, in my opinion. Bitcoin pumped so much in 2017 because it was being used to trade against all these altcoins — but then Ethereum introduced stablecoins, because with smart contracts you can put coins straight on a blockchain instead of having to make your own blockchain. Ethereum revolutionized crypto and took it so far beyond Bitcoin forks that most of what we think of as crypto today is really a product of Ethereum. But I believe ICP is going to revolutionize the internet by taking the basic properties of Ethereum and expanding them to a full-stack application, where you can run your whole website, your whole business system, use AI to create everything fully on chain — secure, resistant, tamper-proof — and then run all the calculations and all the data without ever leaving the chain. To me, that is the biggest innovation we've ever seen in crypto. I'd say even bigger than Ethereum, and even bigger than Bitcoin.

Don't Believe Me — Research It Yourself

So to me, the exercise is to figure out: what does ICP have in common today with what Ethereum had ten years ago? Ten years ago, almost nobody knew about Ethereum. Ten years later, almost nobody knows about ICP — but in my view it is provably the biggest innovation in crypto, the outlier. If you want to go figure that out and research it, not just believe me, all you need to do is go to ChatGPT Pro and tell it to go through the top 100 cryptos and look for the number one most major innovation in crypto. Which crypto introduces truly game-changing technology? Which crypto has the most real potential for mass adoption based only on the technology — not on the token, not on speculation, not on what people are saying? Tell it to read the actual documentation. Read the documentation, figure out what the blockchain is capable of, and ask: could big things be built on this blockchain directly — not off the blockchain using centralized tech and all the copy-and-paste models that Ethereum introduced? Which blockchain could truly serve everyone?

ICP today looks to me like an even better opportunity than Ethereum was in 2016. And it's sitting here at all-time lows. The opportunity is right here, right now, just waiting for people to figure it out. But just like Ethereum in 2016, the opportunity will not last. One day, maybe in 2036, we'll be looking back and saying the same thing: man, I wish I could have gotten into ICP at $2 — the same way I wish I could have gotten into Ethereum at a few dollars. And I did. I had hundreds of Ethereum back then — over a millionth of the entire Ethereum supply as it stands today, back when the supply was about half of what it is now because of mining.

I made a video at the beginning of 2017 showing people how you could make $100,000 a year Ethereum mining — a 20-minute video laying out everything you needed to do and buy — and that video had hundreds of thousands of views. That's how far ahead of this stuff I am. I'm telling you: I was there in 2016. I've researched thousands and thousands of coins, and only one gives me Ethereum-2016 vibes, and it's ICP. And it's purely based on the technology. It's so powerful that it addresses gigantic world problems — maybe it doesn't solve a hundred of them, but it takes a huge edge off cybercrime, and it gives AI an environment to build in. If you missed Ethereum in 2016, I believe you've been given another opportunity, and that's something to be thankful to God for every day. This isn't financial advice — it's my experience and what I've come to believe.

Why I Sold All My Ethereum

I sold all my Ethereum because, in my view, it's too late. The price is too high, and institutional buying is about the only narrative left for it today. Institutions that have some true level of intelligence behind them will be looking at ICP. Maybe some of those institutions should join the Family and say, hey, we'll pay you ten grand to fly out and talk to our whole board about why ICP is different and why we should put $100 million into ICP instead of Ethereum. I'm here whenever you're ready for that conversation. So instead of complaining about the price today, be thankful — because once the price shoots up, just like Ethereum, you're not getting to buy it again for a few dollars. Ethereum is thousands today, and I believe ICP will be thousands in the future also.

Now, here's your chance: join the Jerry Banfield Family. It makes my day, I really appreciate it, I do this full time, and I want to get to know you. If you have videos you think I should watch, or anything you think I should know, you can share it in the Family. Now is the best time to join, because it's still new and small — that means I've got time for you. As it grows, I'm going to have a lot less time for everybody. Get in early, and you can have that pride of being one of the first members — and when we lay out all the roles as the cult develops, you'll get one of the primary roles.

Not a cult — just playing. Somebody did a video saying that I'm a failed cult leader, so you know what? Why don't we make me a successful cult leader? If you want to see more of my research on the Internet Computer, watch my ICP Crypto playlist. I'm looking forward to seeing you next time.
