I'm Selling 2/3 of My ICP for DeFi on MaxFi

I'm Selling 2/3 of My ICP for DeFi on MaxFi

I'm selling two thirds of the total ICP I have. I'm selling all the ICP I have liquid, which right now is about $8,400, and I'm going to sell about the same amount I have locked in my two-week neuron. I'm doing this live right now as I film this video. I've had this two-week neuron locked — I created it four months ago, and it's just been accumulating. I'm clicking Start Dissolving right now, and we're confirming Start Dissolving on this neuron. I'm going to take that and sell it two weeks from now. And what I'm going to do is put it into MaxFi.

If you go to jerrybanfield.com, scroll down the page and find my MaxFi link, you will see that I've got a referral code — and you will feel great knowing that everything you generate on MaxFi, when you click my referral code, I'll be getting, and it won't cost you anything. You'll get the exact same amount. It's just that the platform, instead of paying themselves that 3%, will pay it to me. I don't recommend most people do this.

Why My ICP Is Earning Basically Nothing

Why am I doing it? Because my ICP is earning basically nothing, and I'm a content creator. This is what I do full time, because it's what I'm best at. I had my ICP parked earning 2% APR, and I've got this liquid ICP sitting here doing nothing — and even when there are major announcements, the price doesn't move, because the rest of crypto is actively suppressing it. By comparison, when I go to maxfi.com and look at, for example, Blockchain Pill — Blockchain Pill said in a recent post that he made more money in a single day liquidity farming than all the rest of his content. Here's the post he made: "One day of LP farming nets me almost the same amount as one month of ICP content." So I'm going to continue making ICP content to clean house — I believe ICP is the absolute best technology, and I've made that whole case across my ICP Crypto playlist — but it's time to face the reality that I don't make enough money to sustain myself just creating ICP content. There are almost no opportunities there, and there are tons of opportunities on MaxFi. Here's my ad revenue on my ICP channel — and this is some of the top statistics for an ICP channel on YouTube: $469. I calculate that based on the coins I put in, if I put in $16,000, there will be days where I make close to that much in a single day, just letting my crypto sit there.

This Is Not for the Average Person

Now, for an average person, this is going to introduce complexity and risk that I would not suggest. Doing liquidity farming on MaxFi is complicated. There are all kinds of different networks and pools, and then you pick your pool, the range, the assets, the strategy settings, the rebalancing, the delays, the fee compounding. This is not for a regular person to mess around with. But I need some content for advanced people in crypto, because advanced people in crypto are always looking for better ways to make money. I have an ICP channel — I've already promoted ICP to people that are just basic enough, and it's fine if you're a basic person in crypto: okay, there's a coin that's not like everything else, I'll hold on to that indefinitely. That's great. But for the advanced people who want to make serious money and don't want to just let their money sit there and hope the price goes up, I need to have content for them.

MaxFi is a platform where I can get a ton of content out of this. I can research all of it. I can have a hundred-plus different pool positions and explore all these different pools, and every day I can just say: here's how much money I'm making with this pool and with that pool — I'm on Robinhood today — and show people the APRs. The APRs on some of these — this wrapped ETH / USDC pool says it's making 400% APR. Now, is that because the price of ETH went up? That's where this gets complicated. And yes, this introduces a lot of risk. For example, if I'm on Base using Uniswap with MaxFi, and I'm in wrapped ETH and cbBTC, there are so many third parties in the middle that something could happen where I end up losing some or all of my crypto. I could lose my $16,000 by fooling around with it in DeFi. At this point, I'd rather take the risk, because as a content creator I can make money off the content itself, and I can reach an entirely different audience than I'm reaching shilling ICP every day. And if things go well, it will make fantastic content, and I'll get referrals.

The Content Feedback Loop

For me personally, it's a much more lucrative opportunity. This looks like a fantastic opportunity to just jump into if you're advanced enough to handle messing with all this stuff — but for me it's even more lucrative, because I have all the money to earn on the platform, plus all the money I can earn from making content, and the two of those can be somewhat multiplicative. If you make a bunch of money for yourself on here, that's kind of where it ends. But if I make a bunch of money for myself, and then I make content showing how much money I'm making, then people go to jerrybanfield.com — you see how it's multiplicative, and it's a feedback loop for me. If I make a bunch of money, I get more referrals. Then I make even more money, and the more money I make, the more content I make, and the more content I make, the more money I make. With ICP, I've been missing that feedback loop. People have been looking at me on ICP and saying, this guy's an idiot — all he does is lose money in ICP. That's how the rest of crypto sees me, besides a few people in the ICP community: an idiot that just loses money over and over. So I sell two thirds of my ICP into crypto DeFi, start printing money, and then I can actually use some of my money to make money — and then put it back into buying more ICP, pay my rent, and make more money with content.

I hope this shows you the reality of being a content creator, because what's good for me as a content creator is not necessarily the ideal scenario for everybody else. I'm just being very honest and transparent about it. What's ideal for me as a content creator is to say: go to jerrybanfield.com, join MaxFi, and play around with these DeFi trading pools. Now, I'm not saying you should. If you're going to do it, definitely use my referral link — but this is not financial advice, and this is dangerous. If you screw this up, you could lose money, or you could put it into the wrong token and lose money. But what I also want to do is show how to do it so it makes good money while minimizing the danger. Part of what I'll be teaching is picking pairs that are not that risky and can make money. There are some pairs — you pick a meme coin or something that goes to zero — where you could lose that pool, but if you don't put that much money into it, you won't lose that much, and some of the other pools should cover your losses. To me, this looks like a fantastic money-making opportunity just doing it — I'm putting my own capital into it — but it gets even more lucrative when you consider creating content. If you get anything out of this video: yes, MaxFi looks awesome. That's why I'm going to put more money into MaxFi than I have in ICP for the foreseeable future.

MaxFi Can Actually Compensate Me

I hope this helps you understand what it's like in the space I'm in, in crypto. I've been shilling ICP for years, and the community has been incredibly toxic — the attitude that I should just keep shilling ICP for free and be happy that people watch my videos. No. I am going to go where I can make tens of thousands of dollars a month for myself, because I love paying my rent. I love having a house where I can have my kids, and where when women come over to my house, in the neighborhood I'm in, they say, oh, it's great here — they could see themselves moving in. I love that. I'm not just going to shill ICP every day and have the community be toxic about me asking for what I deserve — for the value I bring to be accurately compensated. MaxFi is in a position to adequately compensate me: between the referrals, and the MaxFi team has money where they can sponsor videos too. They sponsored a video with me — that's how it started, with Blockchain Pill talking about it, and then they sponsored a video with me. The MaxFi team — that's where the opportunity is. That's the biggest opportunity for me right now, and most of crypto is people asking: where's the biggest opportunity for me right now?

I'll be continuing to hold the one third of my ICP, but I'm putting the rest of it into MaxFi. If I lose all of it, I can accept that risk. I think that's very unlikely, but there are lots of third-party risks with all the different coins and different chains, and I'm going to diversify as much as I can to minimize getting wrecked. For example, if something happens with Base, all my Base positions could get wrecked, or something happens with Robinhood, et cetera. I think there's a pretty low likelihood, but with AI hacking and all this stuff, there is that possibility. So this is much more risky, but I am willing to take calculated risk. And what I'm excited about is the learning. I love math. I love learning. I'm looking at all these chains and all these numbers, and I'm thinking: if I can make two or three hundred dollars a day on here and then make content about it, people will watch my content and find me from all over crypto, and then people schedule calls to talk to me about MaxFi and how to adjust their positions.

Guys, I estimate I can make at least $10,000 a month on MaxFi. All I need to do is put $16 grand in myself, do videos on MaxFi every day, and do referrals to MaxFi every day on my website — and I think I can make ten grand a month doing this. So real talk: I'm not parking sixteen grand in ICP anymore and hoping the price goes up while the community does everything they can to sabotage the price and criticize and FUD people like me. This is what I'm doing. I'm really grateful to the MaxFi team for this opportunity, and I'm really excited to learn all this stuff and try it. If you want to join me: on jerrybanfield.com, click the MaxFi thumbnail — it's in "the tools I actually use," towards the bottom of the page. Maybe I'll get a dedicated jerrybanfield.com/maxfi page set up in the future, but this is what I've got for now. (Update: that page is live now — everything about the platform and my referral link is at jerrybanfield.com/maxfi.)

And if you want to talk to me, join the chat on my website — that and my Skool community are the things I read. Don't sit there and message me somewhere I'm not going to read, and don't comment on my videos and expect I'm going to read it. Join the chat and talk to me, or join the Skool — that's what I read. For those of you that are up for it, I'll be there on MaxFi. I've taken at least a week to think about MaxFi — I thought about this for at least a week before putting my money in, so I'm not just impulsively throwing all my money into this. In fact, since Blockchain Pill was talking about it, I've thought for weeks about MaxFi, and I was kind of closed-minded at first, being an ICP maxi. But look: if I'm going to pay the bills, it's time to stop being an ICP maxi until the community adequately funds marketing. I'm done being an ICP maxi, and I'm going to start being a MaxFi maxi at this rate.

I hope to see you on jerrybanfield.com soon.
